Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure (mecha + romance triangles, kinda like Full Metal Panic but better overall story)
Condor Hero (the animation is horrible but the story is damn good)
GetBackers (action-comedy, kinda like Trigun)
Scrapped Princess (I'm supposed to watch it already but I keep getting sidetracked, supposed to be pretty good)
Stellvia of the Universe (really picks up towards the middle of the series, give it some time)

lain is one of my all time favs, but i wouldn't say it'd be good for a lil kid..

best of gundam = gundam original and zeta
after that it's all rehashing of the same old story.

macross is good, none of the crappy hacking and dubbing please.

sexy commando/sugoiyo masaru is hilarious. so insane and "WTF". definitely one of my personal favorites. heh.

oh yeah, cooking master boy is awesome too, it's like animated iron chef x100 the craziness.

Lots of the good ones have already been recommended. How old is your brother? Many things would be more suitable for a 13 year old than like a 6 year old.
 
Nobody else has said this yet, so:

If you really liked Naruto, you should watch One Piece. It's like Naruto except it's about Pirates instead of ninjas. Oh yeah, did I mention it was MUCH better than Naruto?

Others you should take into account if u like really funny stuff:
Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO)
Hikaru no Go


Also, D.N. Angel was pretty good.
 
If he can comprehend love stories, a really good one right now is Kimi ga Nozomu Eien or Kimi Nozo for short. You can find this fansubbed all over the place. It's great with a real twisting shocker on episode 2 that just knocks you off your socks! It just ended in Japan last week and the ending is also a shocker, but not as hard hitting as it's beginning.

Scrapped Princess is definately a good choice, as are Stellvia Universe (uchuu no stellvia), Da Capo, Mermaid's Forrest, Kiddy Grade, Ah My Goddess, etc. There's alot of great older ones as others have mentioned. A real funny one is Jungle wa Itsumo Hale no Guu and Battle Programmer Shirase (BPS).

If you want something really deep though and moving, watch Now and Then, Here and There. This is a real shocker. You're guaranteed to remember this series for a long while cuz it just hits you hard!


No sex or nudity in these above series.

Mahoromatic is cute and funny with a bit of nudity, as are Onegai Teacher, Ranma (never seen the USA version), Love Hina, etc.
