imo, i have been an audio guy for years. my best advice would be to listen to any speaker before purchase. Speakers and sound are a funny thing, they sound diff to everyone. This has been proven thru the years. The diff btw 20k speakers vs 2k kef reference series is in the eye of the beholder.

Again, imho...klipsch has never been known for high end speakers, i always thought they were bassy and loud and were not crisp. Just give em a listen before or make sure u can return.

I geel bad being a little neg...but everyone here helps me so much with my comp....thought i would put my thoughts in.

allright, so I was not strong enough to resist this at this price. I have been drooling over these forever. This sealed the deal, especially considering I had a 50$ gift card to use on them. I am happy. Picking them up today after work. These will go great with my XtremeMusic 7.1 card I am getting with my new PC.

Thanks for this find!

It seems like most people on newegg were happy with these, but a good number had problems...should I be worried about reliability?

i'm sitting here with no working speakers for my computer because the 1.5 year old amp is failing. i would not buy these again.

maybe they have improved it since you bought yours over a year ago?

need to fix the post to read Ultra.

I almost didnt look. Thinking they were the original 5.1

Good thing I did! Thanks!

I almost did the same thing. HOT deal for Ultras.

Damn..Hot as hell, if only I have the money to get this, since the stores around me have it in stock..I can do local pick up...AHHHH!! Hopefully this lasts for a loooong time.

If anyone is looking for a card to pair with these speakers at a good deal, best buy has the x-fi extreme music for $96 this week also.

I am completely owned by best buy today.

I have the 2.1's and paid 125 for them, and that was a good price. This is a steal. The 2.1's sound great, even for movies. These are the way to go, especially if you're comparing them to the logitech equiv.

So, what would be the better upgrade path for me?

keep my audigy 2 and upgrade from my klipsch 4.1 to the 5.1 ultra?

keep my klipsch 4.1 and upgrade my audigy 2 to the x-fi music edition?

I'm leaning toward the speaker upgrade but would appreciate any advice/opinions.

for anyone that's getting in on this deal, i hope so. maybe they haven't improved. i don't know. maybe there is still a high defective rate and that's why they're being blown out. i hope you guys have better luck with yours than i have had with mine. good luck. 🙂

i got a refurbished set of these a while back and they simply kick ass. awesome deal, would jump if I didn't already have a set 🙂

Not in stock anywhere in WA state, the closest that I can find is CDA, Idaho. With that being a 300+ mile drive from Seattle combined with the high failure rate makes this a bad deal for me. I will stick with buying the 5500's sometime soon even if they are not quite as good. Buy.com had them for $205 w/coupon and free shipping not too long ago so that makes me happy.

Best of luck to those who have them in stock nearby!

Worth it if I used the main board sound that came with my Epox 9NPA+Ultra? I currently have a crappy set of Altec Lansings I got for $10 after rebate from CompUSA (they sound like crap) and would love an upgrade.

Yeah it will sound better, however, it might also show how poor the onboard sound and/or your source is if you're used to low bit-rate digital music files. So, I guess it could possibly sound worse because of this fact, but most likely it will be better.

I have not been "in the market for these" for a couple of years,(too exspensive). I used to drool over the regular 5.1's. I always thought that Klipsch got "kick-arse" reviews for years in a row? Are these not about the best quality (sound wise) that $400 buys? They seem awful cheap for Klipsch. Always being a little paranoid, I'm suspect of a new line coming out soon, or maybe known issues that they don't want to reveal? Sounds like a heck of a deal. Now where did I put that $50 xmas gift card for BB? Thanks op.

Thanks. They had a box at my local store. Hope the sub works a good long time. I thought maybe I better get the 2 yr. exchange warranty for $29.99. Time will tell.

the amp on my friends sub went bad a couple years back on a set of pro media 5.1's...not the ultras though, but he called klipsch and they fixed it for 100 bucks. Of course, his amp went bad after 4 years, not 2. We'll see.
