Can't decide between the Promedia 2.1 or the Z-2300. They'll be used for gaming primarily and music. The Promedia's have slightly better specs, but specs aren't everything.

I have both the Logitech z-3s and the bigger z-680s and I love then both. The Klipsch are nice but I can't see them being any better.

Wow, a lot of speaker threads lately.

They all seem to boil down to a yelling match between people who like the sound of Logitech speakers and those who think they are worse than wiring up a couple of trash cans for your sound. A bit of an exaggeration perhaps, then again, maybe not.

I do not have anywhere to set up a 5.1 or even a 4.1 config. Space is limited so I don't mind spending $200 on a great 2.1 setup.

Logitech's speakers offer excellent bang for the buck. From what I understand, although I can't speak from personal experiences, the Klipschs sound a bit better.

I personally am using a set of X-620s right now and they more than kick @$$ for gaming and music. They get almost painfully loud before distorting, and all areas of sounds are well represented.

I say if you can afford the Klipsh speaks, go with them, but if you want the best deal, nab the Lojees...

Here is what I believe to be the bottom line:

-The sound is close
-The logitech costs less

The trade off is the fact that after the speaker goes out of warranty, klipsch will help you and logitech will not if there is a problem. My klipsch 4.1s are 4 years old and now the sub is blown. Klipsch will repair it for $50. My dad has some logitech z560s that are 1.5 years old. There is a bad hum in them. Logitech has no parts, and will not attempt to service them. So the logitechs are less because they are unsupported after the warranty period is over. The call is yours.

anubis is correct. my cousin has teh promedias and they friggin ROCK! since i often hang out in the apple store near my school between classes, i like to listen to their collection of speakers. that really long and reeally big silver altec lansing 2.1's are nice, but i find the promedias to be bettter just on clarity. As for the logitech z-2300, i persuaded one of my best friends to get it and its a very great speaker. among my favorite 2.1's are the promedias, altec lansing one, and the z-2300, but i havent heard speakers that out perform the promedia. :)

i have the promedia 4.1's; had them ever since they came out actually. My friends have z-560s and while they're nice, the Klipsch's DEFINITELY sound better. The highs are fantastic (some say too clear actually), and the sub is incredibly accurate and loud. They certainly sound way better than the 560's. Well worth the money; without a doubt. One of the only downsides of course is the cost. Additionally, the mids are slightly lacking, but frankly I don't think the z-560's are any better in that aspect.

Now I'm not sure if those features are indications of the 2.1 performace, but I believe it might be some help to you.

Personally I would pay more for the promedias. Then again these are just computer speakers so you wouldnt a huge difference between the two, either imo would be enough. If you have the cash for it then go with the promedias.

Great review here The z2200's pack more peak power (400W) than the Klipsch (200W). I own the Promedia 2.1's and love them. I would like to get the z2200's too (because of this price) but it just wouldn't make sense....

peak power means nothing.

if you think by any means logitech is better than kilpch - if you think it's better muscially, you just have no idea what you're talking about or listening for. i've owned all those sets, there is no doubt. the difference is crystal clear. ask any audiophile and there is a clear difference (as if MM system can even be called audiphile equipment).
