That's probably a year's salary, and no i'm not kidding or making fun of the guy at all. That's reality in some places.

Not that I'm complaining, but I thought the terminal velocity of bullets reentering the ground when fired straight up was inefficient to do major damage

Sigh, just goes to prove that just becuase an anandtech'er states they have a PhD in whatever doesn't mean they know what the hell they are talking about.

Either that or there was a second gunman, over on the grassy knoll.

I guess this puts the lie to that theory. Does that mean there won't be any more threads on the subject?

I heard Daniel Carver, he's a Grand Wizard or whatever in the KKK, on Howard Stern and he only makes $8,000 a year.

hrm? when the bullet comes down, its going at the same speed it was going when it was at that point in its ascent. so the bullet would be going just marginally slower than if the gun was actually shot at Murr's head.

It slows down significantly, but still enough to kill..Muzzle velocity would be roughly 1800-2000 feet per second, terminal velocity with air resistance and drag would slow it down to 200ish feet per second

That's true... if you ignore friction. Example: Terminal velocity of a skydiver is around 120mph (I think that's right?). If I fire a human out of a cannon at 1000mph (and somehow put a suit on them so they could withstand the forces), they will slow down rapidly from friction, in addition to from gravity. When they hit the ground, they'll be going 120 mph, not 1000.

edit before edit: Nightmare beat me.... but I used an example there's a remote chance he's aware of.
