Why does Denver's defense give up so few running yards? Maybe, b/c most opponents are playing catch-up and are passing, not running.

For the year,

NE allowed 21.1 points per game and 348.5 yards per game

Denver allowed 24.9 points per game and 340.1 yards per game

Yea they will be fine.

Also: I need to admit I was wrong. Manly called it before Harvin hit the ground and I flamed him.

lil bastard should have taken the bet!
that's rude, dawg. Not only are you taking away my chance to say "I told you so," you're dancing in the end zone too. :D

Considering Harvin played in just 1.5 games this season, the Seahawks don't need him on the field. But his presence definitely draws attention away from some of their other guys.

I'm awful at predictions so if you're a Niners fan, don't read this. I think the Niners will largely contain Lynch and I don't know where the Seahawks offense will be able to turn to. Rooting for the Seahawks, but I think the Niners should win.

I can't even tell you how excited I am for the Brady/Manning matchup and I am not a fan of either team.

And SF v SEA? Someone is going to bleed in that game.

FOOOOOTBAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

at this point, I could give two shits about Brady/Manning. That is getting old and tired. However, I expect it to be a good game and I'm excited.

The real game is Seattle/SF if you ask me. They fucking hate each other. I will probably be watching the game in The Mission, and I'm worried that I will have a hard time containing my joy for Seattle touchdowns and loudly proclaiming my man-love for Russell Wilson throughout the game.

If you guys don't hear from me after Sunday night, please send a squad to investigate around the 20th and Mission BART station. My remains will probably have been dispersed amongst the various burrito joints in that area.

UH huh

NE's defense is worse than the Broncos' D. Although I do agree with you, their defense stopping Manning (which they won't) is just as important and even more so will be stopping our run game, which they won't. Broncos should have easily won that game in NE if they didn't give the game away in the second half.

Bottom line is that Denver's D is ranked 19th in Total Defense, NE is ranked 26th which is quite a bit worse.

Denvers defense against the run is ranked 7th - tied with Seattle. So your point about the ball control, just because it worked Thursday night against SD doesn't mean thats the blue print to beat us. Meanwhile NE is ranked 30th against the run. Knowshon and Montee Ball should go ape shit against that defense. Meanwhile Blount isn't going to do shit, and it will be on Brady to beat us in the air. I don't care what Blount did against the Colts.

I realize that the Broncos injuries are on the forefront of everyone's mind now, but NE lost just as many if not more key personnel earlier in the season. Spikes, Mayo and the freight train himself.

It should be a good hard fought offensive game and fun for all

My point is that the game IS about Manning vs. Brady because both defenses are horrible, you can't just pick on the Broncos horrible D without bringing up NE's horrible defense which is worse in total defense and rush defense (although better in passing defense)

Saying "Blount isn't going to do shit" is completely baseless, all running games start with run blocking and the Patriots have done well with it most of the year an specially the last 3 weeks, the Ravens and the Bills boasted 2 of the best D-lines in the league and they got "Blounted", sure, Denver did play well against the run vs SD but they didn't have Mathews and Woodhead is more of a third down back, not a featured back at all. Yes, NE is without Wilfork and Mayo but those injuries happened much earlier in the season and in fact have held their past 5 opponents to under 100yds rushing since the addition of Siliga as starting defensive tackle, All in all it should be a close game, PM also has Julius Thomas this time which gives another headache for BB to worry about, just for shits and giggles I'm betting that the Patriots first play on offense with be a play-action pass since Denver will be expecting Blount right off the bat, it would be a perfect call..

This is a video of the blocked punt from week 2 San Francisco @ Seattle.

http://youtu.be/Bn89r_Nw52k

Better video here. About 7 Seahawks are moving prior to, and during, the snap looking around. No flag. No stop of play due to an errant whistle. Blah. Hope we don't see stuff like that tomorrow.

On a more positive note, a great commercial about Seattle's deaf fullback.

Wow. That shoulda been 15 yards penalty on SF and an auto 1st down. I understand being loud but fake whistles are definitely not cool.

Maybe it's because I just went through PPE and hearing conservation training, but the volume at the Seahawk's homefield is just nuts. At 137 dB, the permissible exposure time is 0.174 seconds. :p

http://www.dangerousdecibels.org/education/information-center/decibel-exposure-time-guidelines/

For comparison I just looked up the ambient sound level inside a CH-47 Chinook helicopter doing high speed nap-of-earth flight (anyone who has done airborne operations will know how damn loud that is). Turns out that's only 120 db. Holy balls, I don't see how those guys can even function down on the field, much less execute mentally challenging play assignments.

Is the 137db at the middle of the field? I've always wondered where the measurement is actually taken.

Wait, what? Why?
Yeah, I'm not entirely sure who he's responding to

Anyway, awesome football tomorrow! I'm psyched!

I was looking at Ban Bot's video link in the Ninnies vs Seahags game. SF fans with the fake whistle was a major cause in SF blocking a punt against the SEA in that video link. That's not cool. It's one thing to impact the game by being loud, but blowing whistles which causes confusion because some players on the field think it's an official's whistle is not legal. It breaks the integrity of the game.

You let something like this pass in one stadium, it's going to start cropping up in other stadiums. If your fans want to be fucktards, then we'll penalize the team. That's the way I feel about it. And this is speaking as a fan who has no rooting interest in the SF vs SEA fight.

wherever they get the loudest reading

Keep in mind this is the media; they want to sensationalize everything. I'm sure its very loud in that stadium. But I don't believe any numbers the media puts out. Plus if you look at the link posted, it says you should only listen to a walkman for > 4 minutes. What? A walkman?

Fake whistle? Seriously blaming it on a 49er fan? That game was in SEA.

Dammit...I thought the game was in SF for some reason...but that doesn't mean it wasn't a Ninnies fan. :p

I could hear you say "well shit" all the way over here.

Better PM Zenny and have him come in here to make some picks :p

Yeah, I don't think it is fair to blame a 49er fan. Come on, if Seattle fans saw someone (Hawk or 49er fan) in the stands in a whistle doing that--especially after the punt block--they would have immediately reported it. There is no way someone toots on a whistle repeatedly and doesn't get reported after punt block. Oddly no one was ever reported in the stands to have a whistle.

It is much more likely it was someone on the San Francisco sideline, not a Hawk/9er fan in the stands :p This explains why Seattle looked so confused, expecting the pay to be called dead as they looked around at the refs, and the 49ers ran right by for the block :whiste: I guess he isn't getting enough mileage copying Tomlin by running on the field (I jest, I jest. Most coaches, even Carroll, go on the field behind the play on exciting plays... I wasn't jesting about Tomlin though. As for the whistle, who knows, I just want better officiating--that play should have been called dead if called correctly and, barring that, false start. Instead the worst judgment, allowing a punt block on an errant whistle to stand, is stupid. Heck, the refs have NO PROBLEM calling a play dead on a clear fumble if they accidentally blew a whistle.)

Win or Lose I hope neither game is decided by crazy stuff (like the Panther hold in the Carolina/New England game or any of the other silly stuff this season). Here is to a clean day of great football. Good luck Denver, New England, San Francisco, and Seattle. Go Hawks!
