Unless they have a stealth ninja bios flashing team that will visit 590 owners late at night.

Unless they are just going to change the bios on new cards and leave the old ones alone. It's not like there are very many out there. Newegg's been out virtually since day one. If most of the old cards will survive, there's no reason to think they won't, then they can just replace the blow'd up ones. Might be the cheapest route.

An update from KitGuru:

http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/how-serious-are-the-nvidia-gtx-590-problems/

:snip:
KitGuru heard recently that partners were rushing to get their bioses updated, we had assumed at the time that Nvidia had stepped in to release a new bios which would help ensure that thermal limitations were set firmly in place

So, they are admitting their error.

:snip:
"We did hear of one AIC partner who issued a custom VBIOS update specific to their board and we are checking in with them on the details of this.”

This snip above is credited to nVidia. It does back up KitGuru as to where they got their info from, that they then took out of context to mean something more than it actually was.

I don't think it's fair to put KitGuru in the "Rumor site" category.

Everyone makes mistakes. I wouldn't put the rumor site badge on, yet.
But the license they took with this bit of info, to assume is bad when it comes to reporting.

Didn't you hear that they are working on the stealth technology? The GTX590 was suppose to be the first prototype, its not as loud as its competitor...

I dunno, it would have been very easy for them to just say that one vendor had already made a custom bios. It just made a better story to say that nvidia was doing it for all partners instead of doing their research. Now even if nvidia does end up making a new bios, kitguru still has egg on their face.

LOL!
But seriously, speaking of stealth, I have to admit this one is perty dang quiet.
You know, that quiet where you have to actually stick your face in the case and see if the fan is turning. Not bad.

I'm not trying to excuse their error. Just stating that they've now admitted it and explained how it happened.

So, who's this mystery board partner and why are they doing it?
