Kissing w/ tongue , but what if...

My husband had a lingual phrenectomy done last year at the age of 34. Very painful at first, they cauterized it instead of cutting. His "tongue tying" was so severe that he could barely stick his tongue out to lick stamps. It held the end of his tongue so tightly that I joked with him about his forked snake tongue. He can now just barely see the end off his tongue if he sticks it out as far as he can. I've been helping him with stretching exercises. 😱 It's funny because his dentist and hygenist knew exactly why he wanted it done and who would benefit from it. 😱

Doesnt your tounge have to be at least partially attached to the floor of your mouth. I think I have some holding mine down, but my girlfriend doesnt complain about anything, so i guess everything is in order.

I thought the surgery was only done in extreme cases, like when the membrane was so short that you couldn't even stick out your tongue. It makes speaking more difficult, at least thats what I was told.

If you can stick your tongue out, I wouldn't worry.

Hey I was wondering just how bad is the little piece of flesh? How much does it restrict movement? Seems to me like I've got that little flap, but it doesn't seem to restrict movement.. I can touch the tip of my tongue to the little dangling thing in the back of my mouth.

Same here, i have that little piece of flesh and it's not a big deal.

I thought almost everyone is tounge tied....

I am and it's never been a problem for me.. you just need practice 😉

Being tounge tied hasn't hurt me in using it in other places as well 😉

gross

Gross? I can stick my tongue up my nostrils if I wanted to.....can touch the tip of my nose....I can stick it WAY past the flapper in the back of my mouth. (the uvula, isn't it?)

Edit: OH MY FREAKING GOD!! I Google'd "Uvula" and look what I found: Pierced Uvulas!!!

Wait..if you have the tongue cut, then you can lick your nose right? Cuz right now I can't touch my nose with my tongue.

How do you know if you are toungue tied? Is it that everyone is, just some more so than others?

Alright, seems to be some confusion now 🙂 heh, what is the normal length for sticking out your tonugue? I'd say I can only stick mine out about one inch.

That's about right. I just have an extremely long tongue. Think Gene Simmons.
