Grabbed dyson, took all the dog food up, emptied it. Took MAYBE 2 minutes from start to finish. It really is the best and last vacuum you will ever own. It is JUST THAT GOOD.

My cheap ass vac I use for outside will pick up clumps of dry cat food and litter.
If it can pick up sand, it's a nice vacuum! Dyson for Vacuum= Bose for Speakers!

I told you guys before that I borrowed my sisters Dyson and traded her my 4870 for a week........ She sold the Dyson soon afterwards and bought a Eureka Boss 4870. She lost about $200. on it but, she was one that bought into the hype, just like most people do with Sharper Image, Rainbow, Bose and most of the infomercial CRAP on tv!

dyson rocks, I was even able to vacuum my bermuda grass with it. Sucked all this shitty looking georgia red clay right up.

What I did with they dyson was what you would normally break out a shopvac for. It's not about suction power. it's all about the last vacuum you will ever own.

Seriously, you either understand what it's like to own the best vacuum ever made...or you don't.
There's a realization people who know the tools with which they work with. Dyson is the tool and those in the know know that it is truly the best.

I have never EVER been so impressed with a tool and hate brand whores. But when it comes to a vacuum, the dyson is THE tool. And I love expensive tools, but at the super cheap price of the dyson everybody really needs to experience this joy. It's Just That Good.

Who would have ever thought that a vacuum could be this great.

I did something similar with the Sharp upright my parents gave me. Used a miter saw to build a deck and used the upright to suck up the wood shavings from the patio and grass.

Ok, I agree with you on what you post in the video forums 90%+ of the time, but in this case, I feel you're wrong.

Ok, here's my proposition.......... You seem to be all knowledgeable about HD tv specs and stuff, so how about you purchase a cheapy $150. Eureka Boss 4870 and do tests with each vacuum? I would buy a Dyson and do the test with you, but I'm about to build another pc and redo my roof for 9k+ (check my recent threads) and cannot afford a $400./$500. vacuum at the moment.

What's $150.?

How to test? We all know Consumer Reports rates Dyson and Oreck, Rainbow and other high end vacuums fairly low, but..........

I want a Sand and Dog/Cat hair test in Shag and Berber carpet. My money is on Eureka 100%

Wanna' wager Paypal money OR your Monopoly infomercial money?

I THOUGHT our Dirt Devil upright was a great vacuum since it always seemed to pick up everything from the carpet.

That was until I got the Dyson DC18. I performed an experiment, and vacuumed our living room immediately after vacuuming with the Dirt Devil. HOLY SHNICKEY!!! I almost filled up half the canister with all sorts of hair/dust/fiber and who knows what else.. That was from one room which was ALREADY vacuumed with another machine.

Since then we relegated the DD to the basement for "industrial cleaning" and use the Dyson everywhere else. We now dust 1/2 as often as we used to, no lie.

Read Consumer Reports & buy the one they rate the highest.

Btw I havn't checked recently but the last time I did none of the uber-expensive models were on the recommended list, including Kirby.

I read the consumer reports and thats why i ended up buying a eureka.

We had a Kirby sales man come to our house once. Tried feeding us some NASA crap. Then wanted like $2000 for the pile of garbage.

I've always liked Oreck. Check 'em out.

I hope you're more than smoking crab legs!

I know most here frown upon CONSUMER REPORTS, BUT......... They accept no advertising, take no bribes and buy their own products and do extensive tests! Some people buy into the DYSON and Oreck crap...... So be it, be a numbnut!

Remember back when CR did a test on Sharper Image "Air Purifiers"?
Sharper Image filed a Lawsuit against the Consumers Union and said that the tests were not done properly.....?

Long Story short............. CR won and Sharper Image had to pay all of CR's court costs

To make all you Liberals that hate Fox news, here's an MSNBC ARTICAL

The article is being published two months after San Francisco-based Sharper Image agreed to pay the magazine?s publisher, Consumers Union, $525,000 in legal costs after a judge dismissed its libel suit. The failed lawsuit alleged that earlier magazine articles highly critical of the Ionic Breeze?s ability to reduce airborne particles were false and malicious.

Shares of Sharper Image Corp. fell 4 percent, or 67 cents, to close at $15.68 Monday on the Nasdaq Stock Market, near their 52-week low of $14.08.

----Note to self! Article is not spelled ARTICAL!

yea its funny. imagine if we took anecdotal evidence on video card/cpu performance😉
simple fact is people don't own enough vacs to have a good idea of their actual performance. they have no good benchmarks, and they tend to test worn junk vs new and shiny.

Well I think it's along the lines of: I PAYED (Big Money) $400. for my bagless vacuum and it's the best vacuum I've ever owned!

Most people have not a clue that the bagged vacuums are still the best.

But hey, Dyson commercials all the time repeat------ A dyson never loses suction

To all of you that don't know yet, Bagged > Bagless (Bagless no sucky, it's just plain crappy!)

I have an older Kirby I was given on freecycle. Changed the belt, bag and re-spliced the cord. It's a great vacuum, but it's heavy and the g/f can't use it.

We are looking for something to replace it this fall.

Read Here!!!

Hoover Whisper!

And for those that did the Dyson test (Vac after your vac with a Dyson) do it the other way. Vac with the Dyson then use the other Vac. I bet you suck up a lot of stuff after the dyson with *insert Vac. name*.

LOL

We have a dyson DC14. Best vacuum I've owned and it does work great. It removes tons of dog hair and other junk that gets in the carpet from my 3 kids and 2 dogs and 2 cats.
