Just saw the headline at Yahoo's home page. Kirby Puckett was a great baseball player.

Dang, I always figured it would be the drugs that killed him.
Or did he get cleaned up before he died?

Sweet! I have a signed rookie card!

Vote for 2 week vacation.

Unless this guy was a close relative of some of you, you guys need to lighten up and take a joke. He died at 44, he should have been able to sign cards for a long time coming, his premature death will undoubtedly have an affect on the value of a signed rookie card.

I cant understand how people get so upset about "celebrities" or people that they have at most met once or twice, dying.... you take any jokes made about it personally as if they even knew you existed...

They just have a basic respect for life that you apparently lack. Ass.
Keep in mind...some of us don't dwell on death the same as other people. I know that Kirby had a great life and he's moved on to a batter place.

They going to deep fry him?

RIP :( :brokenheart:

Another Twin Cities "kid" here. I grew up watching Kirby. The kind of magic he brought to the game doesn't come along often. The '87 and especially '91 series were truly something special. I remember Game 6 to this day.

As a side note, I realize it's inevitable, but it's sad to see some of the complete morons bottom feeding on this thread. I guess if there was any doubt as to who they are, they've clarified it for us now.

espn had it at 44, now its 45. which is it.

A media guide misstated his age at 44. The hospital's press release included his actual age, which was a year older.

kinda odd I did some searching, everywhere lists him as being born march 14, 1961 making him 44. Even his rookie card has that date as date of birth

It seems odd that so many places could be wrong.

Not that its a big deal whether he's 44 or 45

So sad. :(

I was really hoping he would pull through. I remember watching him play so well during those World Series games when I was in college. I really liked him despite being a Yankee fan.

r.i.p. kirby. as a fan of the game of baseball for many years now, this is a sad loss. especially at such a young age. his career was cut short because of his eyes and now his life has been cut short.

I respect life, but is he alive? No...

Im alive, and you call me an ass, so much for you respecting life :)

I know the death is a part of life... life wouldnt be as precious if there was no death... but we arent talking about life here, he is ALREADY dead... I would never wish death on anyone... but he died, its over with, he isnt coming back this side of a sci-fi movie, so deal with it and move on.

Very sad. He was a hell of a ball player and a lot of fun to watch. Seems as if life was tougher for him off the field than on.

RIP, a great player, but he wasn't a great person. Either way, it's sad to see someone that young die.

ah hell. one of the nice guys out there.. dammit.

Here's a lesson for the kids out there: you can beat the ever-living sh!t out of your wife and people will still think you're a good guy if you were good at playing sports.

Puckett's birth date was frequently listed as March 14, 1961, but recent research by the Hall of Fame indicated he was born a year earlier.
