just out of curiosity, are the hyperx's significantly better than the valueram? i mean, since you can get the valueram at fry's website for $140, is it worth the extra cash (assume zipzoomfly's $177), if not how much more is it worth?

also, i've not had any problems with zipzoomfly that they weren't happy to fix; once i ordered a psu but put a po box as the shipping addy, not thinking about it being shipped fedex, and they even called me to confirm it and shipped it anyway (without reminding me that it cant be shipped to a pob). i attributed the call to impressive customer care, but when the fedex guy called me on a saturday telling he couldnt deliver it and to call him on monday, that's when it hit me. i called him wednesday because i didn't get the message (from saturday) until wednesday, and it turned out he was out monday anyway so even if i did it wouldnt have mattered...fedex sent it back to zipzoomfly on monday. then, they said they could reship it for like $10 or refund my order sans a 15% restocking fee. i told them my situation and they said they'd give me a complete refund, but apparently there was a communication problem between hr and accounting, and i had to email them again about the 15%, and my card was promptly refunded. so, it was a bit of a mess, but worked out in the end without too much hassle. they seem pretty dedicated to customer service (keeping in mind the duma$$ bureaucratic rules that companies like that have).

OP: i don't think everyone knows about the zipzoomfly deal because they're not reading the whole thread, even though it's not the best deal it's still pretty good and it seems to be pretty consistant and zipzoomfly is not that bad to deal with, so i think you should throw that link into your original post somewhere.

I would definitely say yes, they are worth it!!! Got these bad boys yesterday (was lucky to get them for the $150, too), and even though I had a case of buyer's remorse for a while, I have to say I am very happy with the sticks. It's the first time I'm able to run memory with 1T command rate! (even though I have tried with all sticks I had before). They run in dual channel at spec speed just fine, did not try to overclock even, the 1T gave me like a 15% performance improvement. They are even better than the Corsair Platinum sticks I had before, moved those to my HTPC.

gibster:

hm...that's pretty cool..right now I'm running a 512 valueram kit speced for macs (works fine in my pc tho lol), but you know 512mb just doesn't cut it anymore. if my new mobo doesn't support the 2GB kit i have i'll probably just bite the bullet and buy one of these kits, or maybe a 1gb kit in the fs/ft forum if i can find a good deal. however, i am currently running this 512 kit at 1t, haven't memtested it yet (no floppy drive, no blank cd's), but runs fine so maybe you just had bad luck with other ram, idk. kingston stuff is pretty good to me, can't say i've ever had an issue with any of their ram.

I did have 4 other HyperX memory sticks before, 2x512MB PC3000, and 2x512MB PC3500. The PC3000 was good, but I remember having to RMA the PC3500 a couple of times, because a stick was bad. When I get them, I always Memtest86+ the sticks for at least several hours in the destination machine, and then run some Prime95 torture. There are some other tests out there as well, I should get up to date on these, but usually, if it passes Memtest86+ and Prime95, I've never had problems.
I don't think any sticks I had before were capable of 1T Command at the spec speed - maybe if I underclocked them. Some didn't want to run at spec in dual channel mode (probably because I was getting individual sticks, not dual kits), I remember having to run the PC3500 at around 190MHz for dual channel to work. In single channel, they would work at spec, just did not like dual very much. I'm pretty surprised this kit is better than the Corsair Platinum PC3200 kit I bought very recently - the 1T command and 2T on row precharge are the only diffs, but it does improve memory speed (as per Memtest86+) by over 15%.

Page computer is funny..

I place 3 orders, first 2 were cancelled by them.. but the day i got the cancelled message the price dropped to 158 from 166.. and I check it had that ONLY 2 LEFT message.. so I reorder it with a different email.. the lower priced one shipped..

so I have 1 set coming.. and against my best judgement, i order a set from compuvest..

They are odd...they said to give them 5-7 business days to cancel my order and issue a refund...funny it takes so long...but I'll give them their time.

TruePaige,
I'm in the same boat with you! They cancelled my order and never refunded my money back into my visa debit card. Man they suck! BTW, I just got my set from ZZF and I love 'em. This ram definitely runs to spec unlike some corsair junk I just got rid of.I e-mailed Kingston Sales asking for a raincheck on the "SAVEBIG" promo before I ordered them from ZipZoomFly. They wrote back (a couple days later) saying to let them know when I ordered it so they can adjust the price. I just now checked my online bank statement. It appears Kington has charged me $160.13 for this set even though I haven't ordered them yet. So I'm trying to figure out if they're sending them to me and if so, should I upgrade my other computer or sell them.
This is good product but I've had to deal with four different sites before I could get my hands on them for under $180 total
Like I said before, Page will never get my business again. I apologize for even mentioning their name to begin with.

Lower numbers are better. Make sure you set the correct ones!

I e-mailed 6 times, and I called the BBB, don't know if it was the last e-mail or the BBB that did it...you can see the e-mail and the address for the lady that responded on an earlier post.

I, too, have been scammed by Page Computers. They are clearly fraudulent.

I purchased 2 memory cards in early December. One worked, one was defective. I followed their ridiculous instructions for return and reluctantly agreed to their 10% fee for handling returns even for defective items. They have a Track Your RMA site, and my RMA remains OPEN after 6 weeks now.

They received my item in return. They have yet to refund me a cent. Emails go unanswered. Their customer service phone line is obviously unmanned and just hangs up on you after a minute.

I am reluctant to contact my credit card company and report a fraudulent transaction, as I purchased 2 memory cards and one worked and was not returned. So, if I told my CC company that it was a fraudulent transaction then I feel like I would be stealing the one card I did keep.

Suggestions?

So tell them just that. You returned one, and you want to fight the difference in price.

Just got my money refunded today. Both sets of ram I got from Kingston and ZZF actually made my cpu's run faster which is freakin' awesome. I can't say enough good stuff about this product...I love it! 😀

"tRAS: tRAS is a bit of an 'odd-ball' when it comes to performance. In the Socket A days, it was discovered that 2-2-2-11 timings (tRAS=11) were actually better than 2-2-2-5 in many synthetic benchmarks, proving that lower is not always better. tRAS is generally not too sensitive and can be adjusted a bit in either direction to look for the best performance. In the world of Athlon 64, tRAS of 6-7 seems to be ideal. Anything lower than 5 or higher than 8 seems to worsen performance. Many people with high performance 2-2-2-5 memory increase their tRAS to 6 or 7 to extract a bit of extra performance. There has always been some debate as to whether these 'optimized' tRAS values are actually better for gaming and real world use. Some have speculated that they are simply useful to improve synthetic benchmark scores and that lower is always better."
