ok, I'm getting much better results now with the optimized clinet from lunatics.at. I'm up 12-15% now after 2.5 days on all my rigs that are running it. My c2d with the sse3 optimized client is overreporting credit, but even with the lower granted credit it is still up about 13% RAC. Both my x2's and the opty180 are getting granted full credit and they are also up in the 12-15% range. I tried running it on my xp2400+ rig and kept getting errors so that one is back to using the normal client without optimizations.

update, boinc version 5.10.28 is out now. I couldn't find a list of enhancements/improvements but I went ahead and dowloaded it just in case.

I've noticed a very large spike in the TeAm Seti RAC section. I think that petrusbroder is about to "smoke" me :)

edit: anybody know if they're working on an sse4 optimizer for penryn?

Nice to see some figures on the boost :)
Are you using v2.2?

no, v 2.4 is out now. I tried not once, but TWICE, to use the sse2 optimized amd version with my xp 2x00+ cpus. strangely, I only got error messages

I'm actually up about 25% now on the computers that are using the optimized client. I have it on 9 of my 13 cores ( the newest ones of course ) so my total output has gone up quite a bit.

Unfortunately, I think that I'm going to max out in the 4500 range until I can snag a Q9450 in jan, so petrusbroder you are safe. Your 16000 pending RAC is 3 1/2 day's output for me. Maybe they can do some divx-like magic with sse4 and penryn to get a 100% improvement out of seti, too...;)

I will ask anyway just incase.

and I was hoping to bring a couple more puters to the fleet back online... I have a Dual P3-1Ghz I could have brought back... and then there's my old lappy P3-1.2Ghz
I'm just glad I live in an apartment now where the utilities are paid... just don't tell my apartment manager what I'm doing ;)

you could temporarily join smoke's Team Enterprise. he is signed up as team enterprise and has told all of his teammates about it. Since Team Enterprise is considered one user, they could add all of your computers to the team.

That could be done if necessary but I think dajeepster will be included in our TeAm.

See SirUlli's post a few back:

Not surprisingly, since XP only includes SSE(1). You need Amd64/Opteron for SSE2.

yeah, I knew that, but somehow I forgot on the xp 2400+, then forgot AGAIN last night when attempting to install it on mom's 2800+. It's a good thing she thinks that a blue screen of death is an award you get for being a computer geek :)

Just to re-iterate the cut off date was Oct 28th, no more enteries are being taken

Originally the date was Nov 3rd ,but due to complications with the stats it was changed ,this change wasn't very well passed around :p.
Just for the record LANMAN had already joined prior to the 28th ,he just hadn't confirmed it in this thread;)

Well you can still bring them online to crunch for TA :) ,after the race it could be tough catching/or keeping TPR behind us.
Btw you lucky git for having your utils paid ;)

bryanW1995
Good point about dajeepster joining TE.
lol @ BSOD :D

Smoke
Tut tut ,didn't you read my post just after that :p
Btw can you (or Ulli if he's reading) edit the 1st post to change the cut off date to Oct 28th to save any further confusuion?.

jswjimmy
It would of been nice to have you join us but sadly your too late to join the race:( ,of curse you can still crunch for TA anyway:) ,or maybe you could join Team Enterprise for the race? ask Smoke.
Welcome back to The search btw

I have two FX-60s with Linux64 and the seti app from crunch3r is 5.27 and I already have 5.28 from seti. Would I have any performance gain by switching back one notch?

That's a shame. I'll edit SirUlli's OP to indicate the correct cutoff date. :(

If any of the guys that didn't make the cutoff still want to contribute to the race, send me a PM and we may be able to work something out. ;)

If anyone should wish to crunch with the Rebel Alliance they are welcome to do so although you would pretty much be starting at the bottom so to speak and my machines will be moving back to Tanpaku after this race ends.

Ok, I'm not the most fiscally responsible person around. Or the most sensible. That's a way of saying that I want to upgrade my file server so that I can use it as a good backup gaming rig, and, oh, by the way, it will run seti 24/7 while I'm not gaming on it :)

I read somewhere that phenom should be a monster DC cpu because of some changes that they made to the arch. I've also noticed that x2 cpus seem to stack up much better to c2d's in DC than in most other apps. What do you guys think, will I get more work done in my idle time with, say, a phenom x4 at 2.8 or a G0 Q6600 at 3.4?

I only know that in DPAD the X2s do better than the C2Ds clock for clock ,though the C2Ds outpace them on sheer o/c speed;) ,don't know about other projects atm.

As for Phenom ,I should think almost no-one knows what the DC performance is like yet (except maybe a few who run DC on servers),though I'd imagine it'd be good.
