Neither of them, IMO. Kurt Kobain/Nirvana was virtually talentless. And I can't think of any work by NIN/Reznor that I can say I honestly like, and would listen to on a regular basis.

Also depends on the genre of music, as well. I don't dig grunge or..whatever it is Reznor does, so I don't find them very influential at all.

At The Gates however....

FVCK YES At The Gates !!!!!!!!!!!!
Slaughter Of The Soul + Terminal Spirit Disease = two of the most underrated metal albums of all time.
They created and mastered the Gothenburg style from the very start!

That said, I'd personally pick Opeth, but ATG and Opeth are both from the same era, and both actually played together at a lot of their earlier gigs ... Both different styles though ...

NIN, unless the grunge scene is still considered modern music...

I bet if you were to look up numetal bands and shit like that and look for what Artists inspired them growing up, NIN would be way up there.

And hell, staying power has to be worth something.

Sounds like every other fucking band at Ozzfest?

Let's be level headed, neither grunge nor metal sounds identical.

Death Metal certainly doesn't sound like Opera/Symphonic Metal.

You cant just come into a thread about a type of music that you arent a fan of, attempt to mock it, then make a suggestion of a better band.

That guy is a retard. It doesnt matter what music he mentioned, i would still mock him.

I should go to a rap concert and tell them all they should listen to metallica. That would be AWESOME!

Death metal doesn't sound like death metal even ....
Compare some old school death metal band like "Death" to some of the more modern deathgrind (such as Isacaarum) or melodic death (At The Gates was a fine example) out there, they barely have anything in common.

I will agree that grunge doesn't all sound the same, but I don't have any attraction to the sound of it ....

They're both pathetic.

Nice, 2 people who practically invented their respective subgenre's and that's all you got.

It doesn't matter if they invented their subgenres because their subgenres are crap. It's like calling whoever invented the modern pop-emo genre a genius just because they invented something. It doesn't matter if you're an inventor if what you invent isn't any good.

*waits for all of the NIN fans to come flame me*

No shit, to call both of these lead singers talentless is beyond retarded. No matter if you like their music or not.

Nirvana definitely had more "influence".

Now if you want to know had as much "influence" and good music to back it up: see Radiohead.

Yes, because this sounds the same as this which sounds the same as this which sounds the same as this which sounds the same as this. I honestly can't tell the difference.

I'm huge Nirvana fan, but I don't think they invented a genre at all. They were a punk band. If anyone invented punk it's the Ramones and maybe a few others.
