I like how you classify 1933 miles of fence as "really easy."

If that monstrosity was ever built the next step would be the whining about how much it costs and its the Democrat's fault for building such a wasteful fence.

I guess a "secure" boarder looks like the East German wall. I vote no on that nonsense.

That's why the military should be down there. It is not insurmountable.

Becoming a refugee center for this entire half of the planet would impoverish this country. We are well on our way...

Why go all the way to middle east to shoot brown people when we have them right on our doorstep eh?

Saudis is longer and took 2 years. This is a semi third world country with 9m people. Bechtel built it and they are based here. We could have a fence up in 6 months tops if congress really wanted to. But they dont want because the people that pay them love cheap labor.

Is that what you tell police if you stop someone from breaking into your house, that you just liked shooting <color> people?

It will not impoverish the country. But there will be good areas and bad areas. Just a lot more bad areas. Like Mexico.

The wall on the Saudi/Yemeni border is only partially completed, and the length of the border is only 1100 miles, compared with 1900 miles of US/Mexico border.

Also, it's already being circumvented.

Lemme guess, he's going to unilaterally halt deportation while millions of legal immigrants wait patiently in the Queue following all the rules.

There's no sense to being a legal immigrant in this country anymore.

I was being facetious.

Using the military as a police force is a terrible idea though. It's not what they do and not what they should be doing.

Youre not including the Iraq portion. And thats not the fence but barbed wire of pre completed fence ofc its circumvented.

Fences work too good.

Last year at this time 9,570 incidents had been recorded of migrants illegally crossing into Israel from the Egypt-controlled Sinai Peninsula.

This year that number is just 34.

Why shouldn't he act. Has congress done anything on this issues? Nope! Nothing, zero! The Republicans are too busy with past issues. We need a decisive leader now!

Dude, he gave his campaign speeches in Spanish.

OF COURSE HE WAS GOING TO HOOK UP ILLEGAL ALIENS! I dont even understand why this is an issue. I'm actually surprised he took this long. I seriously expected him to grant full pardons in his first term.

It's not all about Obama but the precedence this sets. It's also not about the amount of executive orders but the choices. He's gone in a couple of years but this practice will remain. He is way out of his lane with his pen and phone comments and his actions. For a Constitutional lawyer he seems to have missed a few lessons regarding separation of powers. Again, he proves his lack of leadership abilities and rather than facilitate changes and compromise within Congress he further divides the House and Senate. This man couldn't mange a Taco Bell let alone the presidency.

I also don't want to hear the what should he do BS. There are plenty of men and women throughout history that have overcome much worse obstacles by sound leadership. It's not black and white, it's not off and on....it's a skill...he doesn't have it.

Neither could Bush. It seems quite a few of the last presidents were ONLY good for pressing palms and kissing babies. They'd be almost worthless without their parents connections.

As for precedent, it isnt just him. Reagan granted amnesty and the last several presidents have gone buck wild with interpreting the Constitution to suit their agenda and making policy all on their own.

Agree....now I'm just waiting for the usual click to jump in and over analyze the shit out of what should be a fairly easy concept to understand. It's also scary the amount of people on here who are more than willing to look the other way and are OK with further diminishing of Constitutional values or would do or say anything in defense of this man. He is beyond a lame duck president.

There hasn't been a real President in office since FDR or Eisenhower really, everything else is noise and bullshit to be honest I imagine.

There's no real need for extreme fences and all the other distractions. Its amazing how well the politicians play people and get them to believe what every other country in the world does is impossible in ours.

Simply ENFORCE the immigration laws. Not even against illegals primarily, but against businesses. Go back to extreme fines at best, forfeited assets and jail sentences and at worst for businesses that hire illegal workers. No other bullshit is needed. Cheaters of the system actually need to always have more to lose by getting caught cheating, than they gain by getting away with it.

Of course some will still cheat, but the overwhelming majority of businesses wouldn't go near illegal workers if getting caught meant serious shit hitting the fan. On the flipside, no govt freebies for illegals that are only for citizens. Legalize MJ and dry up a big part of the southern drug trade as well. Once the economic lures are gone, there's no need for any fences. Only a.manageable amount of people will bother trying.

As it is, our own govt basically hangs out "come up to the US!" signs all over Central America and then does a wink and a nod with corrupt employers.

Its funny how Dims and the usual class-envy suckers normally want to stick it to business any way they can, but they've swallowed so much horseshit from their puppetmasters who want their hordes of slaves brought in, they actually hand corrupt businesses a perfect out of skirting labor laws and shafting US workers royally.

Economic illiterates carry water for cheating businesses whining about "labor shortages" (translation: you can't be replaced at a minute's notice by a trained monkey... you're actually worth more...oh noes!) and "Jobs Americans won't do!" (Translation: entire industries that used to pay citizens enough to live well now turned into shit jobs ONLY illegals will do for nothing... cheered on by morons slitting their own throats.)

So of course.. every nation on earth has high fences around it rather than immigrarion laws that protect their own citizens over any refuse that just wanders in.
