I think we should attack them with cruise missiles due to their egregious violations of human rights. That's what we do, right?

North Korea is a nightmare. Part of the situation though is that China likes having them as a 'buffer state' because of the tensions between China and the west.

So it's the major power frictions that help cause a lot of horrible things in smaller countries - just as in the cold war.

On one s9de - East Germany, Romania, etc. - or ther other - Shar of Iran, El Salvador, Marcos, Duvalier, etc.

How do you FIND these "news" reports? Do you spend all your waking hours poring through the Internets?

I think all he has to do is follow Huffpo which is a decent source instead of having to constantly verify facts from conservative websites.

Their families were forced to watch the execution, which took place three days later, and were then sent to the country's notorious prison camps, the source said.

Did I read that right? The families were sent to prison camps afterwards?

I think they usually punish 3 generations :S

yep. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaechon_internment_camp

Imprisonment at Kaechon internment camp is for life with no chance of release.[3] Prisoners are forced to do hard labour, and have to work until they die.[1] Politically unreliable people and their families are deported without any trial to the camp,[1] where prisoners live completely isolated from the outside. The camp is around 155 km2 (60 sq mi) in area.[4] The camp includes overcrowded barracks for males, females and older children separately and the headquarters with administration and guards housing.[5] Altogether around 15,000 prisoners live in Kaechon internment camp.[6]

Yes. All members of a family are punished for a family members perceived crimes(which can be anything at all, most are made up on the spot). Three generations or so of your family are the ones that get punished. Not just present born either. Kids are born in the camps and spend their entire lives there until they die, which is typically before the age of 10. The NK internment camps are as bad as the the Nazi internment/labor camps. Apparently NK does experiments and surgical training on living/awake prisoners as well.

It's widely known that 3 generations of a "criminals" immediate family will be live in prison. So, if the criminal or any family member has a baby in prison, the baby will grow up there and most likely die there.

edit: Wreckem beat me to it.

So the wife made him kill his mistress?

Kim met Hyon about a decade ago, before either of them was married. But he was later ordered to break off the relationship by his father Kim Jong-il and she married a soldier. Since then there have been rumors that the two were having an affair.

Kim's wife Ri Sol-ju was also a member of the Unhasu Orchestra before she married him. Whether she had any hand in the executions is unclear. The Unhasu Orchestra and Wangjaesan Light Music Band have apparently been disbanded due to the latest scandal.

This is the best reason to use Seal Team 6. Go in there and free all these people. Seriously WTF is wrong with our government? A few hundred people die in Syria and it's balls out war. But thousands die in Korea and we do jack shit!

Uh yeah...

How's that going to work then?

Ignoring that the Seals have to get to the prison alive how are they going to extract several hundred malnourished prisoners across hundreds of miles of terrain swarming with fanatical armed troops?
