Isn't it amusing that all winter long, people in the sunny climates brag about how bad we have it in NY & how nice it is there? Given a choice - 3 months of freezing temperatures, or 3 months of high humidity/high heat index. I'll chose the former. At least you can bundle up and still be comfortable outside.

Yeah, but it's also like a co-worker of mine, who was from Alabama, once told me. He says people always go on and on about how humid it is, down by the Gulf, and he responds with, "Yeah, but I've never had to get up on a 'cold' January morning, and shovel a foot of humidity out of my driveway!!" :hmm:

I'm in western NY, right on the outer edge of the snowbelt. I've only bothered shoveling about 3 times in the past 2 years. I'm not anal retentive about seeing the sidewalk and driveway surfaces. Then again, having watched southerners work in a couple of different work settings, it's no surprise that shoveling a sidewalk is a horrible thought to someone from Alabama.

103 without any humidity is quite nice

nice is the wrong word

not terrible is more like it

90F and 100% humidity is orders of magnitude worse than 103F with 0% humidity, but 103F is too hot to just be loitering around in the open

In shade with a breeze and some cold drinks, 103F might be "nice"

But yeah, its mostly about the humidity for me. Once it gets into the 80s with high humidity, I'd gladly trade that for 103F with none.

Crap. Wife just reminded me that we have to go to my brother's for a birthday party today. His wife doesn't believe in AC. She thinks sitting outside in the partial shade is fine.

After listening to the news a few days ago about temperatures rising as high as 130 in Iraq and the fact that our troops have to wear full gear though that stuff, I have little sympathy.D:

When it's that hot without AC, even a breeze will "dry roast" you.
