LMAO, so all the limbs being cut off and the blood spraying everywhere was what? That only comes from one source I can think of.

The limbs being cut off and blood spraying everywhere was done in samurai films like Lone Wolf and Cub, Samurai Assassin, etc. These films were done in the 70's/80's - before anime became popular. Actually the gore the movie series Lone Wolf and Cub depicts are true to the manga series it was based on.

I loved Tarnintino's films... Pulp Fiction was great. As for Kil Bill, I have no idea why there are 2 volumes. There's only enough material for one movie. Moreover, the action scenes weren't done well at all. I was reminded of Matrix when all those countless asians came out, except nothing happened; the sword was not used creatively at all, as the bar was in matrix. Essentially the fight scenes bored me, the anime was waaay too long and I had no idea what it was doing there in the movie, although it was ironically the most enjoyable part of the movie. The story telling style in chapters was annoying and counterproducive, i can deduce on my own when a new "new chapter" comes to view. Also, the fighting scenes sucked even more when most of them lacked music for effect. And the excessive blood and limbs didn't have any effect, if anything it extentuated its cartoonish quality. It was just dry sword swinging. The bottom line is, I was bored. It had good potential, but as the story progressed, especially towards the end of the movie, I got bored. Maybe Vol 2 will pick up some pace and originality. Luckily I saw it with a girl, which gave me something to do.

I remember seeing a 70's Samurai flick where the Samurai and his eight-year-old son are on the run from ninja assassins, and they end up killing over a hundred people. The blood sprayed everywhere, just like in Kill Bill. In fact, the final enemy they faced made some comment about how "If you cut somebody's throat just right, it sounds like a flute because of the way the blood sprays over the windpipe. How ironic that it happened to me."

At one point, the father rolls the son and his cart down a hill and spikes come out of the cart and cut assassins up. Was that "Samurai Assassin?"

Yeah, don't bother. If you didn't like Kill Bill you won't like those either.

tk149 - That movie was called "Shogun's Assassin". It was a chopped up version of the 1st and 2nd Lone Wolf movies that was released for American audiences.

That's it! Thanks! <Starts combing internet for video>

Am I the only one that feels weird when I see non-Asians wield Katanas and do martial arts?

Kind of like seeing Asians doing wild west cowboy movies.

A most excellent film but far from the the best.

Yup, exactly. QT is awesome... this movie was easily the best movie this year. Every part of the movie rocked... how can you go wrong with lots of hot asian girls, fighting, and swords? I can't wait for the second part!!! 🙂 🙂

having seen revolutions, i now appreciate kb even more🙂

the anime wasn't low quality, it wasn't extremely mind blowing, but it was nicely stylized and fit the movie.
