The film wasn't supposed to be realistic. It was set in a sort of a samurai universe. You didn't notice that The Bride had her samurai sword everywhere she went? Check out the plane scene again. Everyone had a sword onboard.

anyone expecting realism esp watching that far into the movie doesn't have a clue. they had code names for f*ck sake, nurses with nurse pr0n outfits, the red cross eye patch etc... its endless wackiness.

I just saw this movie and thought it was pretty good. Not great, but very good.
If you aren't familiar with the old Shaw Brothers kung fu movies of the 70s & 80s (Shaw Brothers logo appeared at the beginning of the film) or the Lone Wolf & Cub movies then a lot of what was presented in the film may have been lost. I think QT is a fan of both movies and incorporated the style from both of them (revenge plot against evil Master - Shaw Brothers movies, blood and lost limbs - Lone Wolf & Cub)
I really enjoyed this movie and am looking forward to Volume 2.
I had a choice between seeing this or the new Matrix Revolutions. I think I made the right decision.
