It really doesn't surprise me that children pick the more liberal candidate. Kids are idealistic. The liberal candidate says that if he's elected, nobody will ever get sick, everybody will have all the money they need, there will be no more poverty or hunger or sicknes.

Really? Never heard a liberal candidate say that.

In anycase, I bet I could sway just about every 13-16 year old I know by saying that Kerry is in support of gaydom.

Then I would explain Cheney's daughter is a lesbian and that Bush was a cheerleader.
Cheerleader?

Yes, if I recall correctly, Bush was something like a master cheerleader....

😕 That looks nothing like Bush. But I'll take your word for it.

Maybe you can check out the Philips Academy yearbook then. (I guess he was a highschool cheerleader and not a college one-- even worse). Washington Post

Your hero was a cheerleader. Sucks, huh?

Hmm. When I was in 5th grade in 1996, I remember our class of 23 doing a mock vote. All 23 voted for Clinton over Dole.

In 9th grade, 85% of students voted for Gore over Bush.

Odd, isn't it?

You voted too, didn't you?

lordtyranus:

Bush isn't 60 years old and he can't run anymore because of a knee injury apparently and none of the candidates was ever much of an athlete. I doubt Bush would be able to break 10 mins per mile when he is 60. He might be able to do it now. I've been running all my life and my current mile time is only about 6:10 (haven't done it in 6 months) and I WAS a college athlete.

How are you going to graduate high school if this is how good you are with the facts? 🙂

It depends where you live. We did one in 2000 and Bush got ~90%. Good ol' N. Texas.

Hopefully 'just about every 13-16 year old' has a little more sense and is not a homophobic bigot like yourself. Allowing people to live the life according to their own terms and not discriminating against them is not a bad thing. Being homosexual is not a bad thing. being intolerant is.

Who cares? Bush was a cheerleader. Let that percolate deep into your soul. Just admit that it sucks for your cause and that you'd prefer a prez who wasn't a cheerleader.
I would. I never said I approve of every quality Bush has.

Yup. I was ignorant back then. Looking back, I can see that exactly how the Democratic mob mentality takes control of the masses in poor, uneducated cities. I believe our teacher said that Clinton would help get us a baseball team at our school.

Sure he can. This was mentioned on some 60 minutes special around a week ago. Of course, they could be wrong, or the show could have been a rerun.

At my school where I teach, we watch ChannelOne every morning, a 10 minute news program for teens age 13-18 (www.channelone.com). They've been profiling the candidates a lot and spending a lot of time on the election, culminating in the vote yesterday. It was fairly structured. Results: Bush win with over 1 million votes for 55%. Bush takes 393 electorals to Kerry's 145. In an exit poll taken after making their pick for president, teens weighed in on the issues most important to them. A majority of respondents-- 44 percent-- said that the war in Iraq was the most important issue facing the candidates today, and the 2nd highest was the economy at 22%.

Channel one has been right in the past 4 elections. The electoral distribution map for the election looks similar to the way it is today. Could they be right again??? (it will be interesting to see how the people who posted above react to this)

Well, Bush is very athletic now. I hear he can run a 7 minute mile (pretty good for a 60 year old I'd say).

Kerry, OTOH:

Falls off of bicycles quite often too...I hear.

By the way...I don't have a problem at all with Bush or any other male being a cheerleader. Watching the University of Kentucky Cheerleaders over the years, there is a huge pride and character that is built by the team. They are respected in all that they do after school. Very honorable, IMO.

Awww... no comments on the ChannelOne vote?? It's amazing it was so lopsided, considering the majority of teachers (who conduct the votes with their kids) tend to lean left-of-center and the ChannelOne coverage itself was somewhat biased in favor of Kerry.
