Because, now you can copy the steps without learning them.how is this different than using a maths book?
I now looked at the video without skipping parts and it's pretty cool indeed, like wolfram alpha but with also text detection.Because, now you can copy the steps without learning them.

If your phone can solve it for you there's no need to learn the steps. If a person is in a math-heavy field that's something they can do in their sleep and for 99,9% of people it's not something they need at all. Teaching algebra these days is about as necessary as forcing kids to memorize the birthdays of every king of France.
Crazy how long those little cell batteries last.
What I did hate the most is having to memorize formulas
That perspective is total bullshit! You are right that learning the steps isn't what's important but, you cannot learn and internalize mathematical relationships without learning the steps. The overriding importance of learning math in the first place is to gain perspective. The bottom line is you won't know how to frame the question let alone, what numbers to punch in to your calculator without learning the steps. If your phone can solve it for you there's no need to learn the steps. Teaching algebra these days is about as necessary as forcing kids to memorize the birthdays of every king of France as part of a history class. What's the point?
Can you translate that to old geezer English?Juss tryina gettit out you fellmeh SmoocherZ
Once upon a time some guys went to the moon using slide rules.

Math is all about broadening your horizons. Just because you seem to be math challenged doesn't mean the majority don't need or want more possibilities.Yeah. And they wrote the complete works of Shakeapeare, perform brain surgery, end slavery, solve crimes and fight fires without using algebra. Some people need math and use math, the vast majority don't.
Yes of course and that's fine, if someone wants to of course they can study it more but there's no need for math past algebra in general education college/University unless you want to study in that area.Math is all about broadening your horizons. Sounds a little defeatist to me.Yes of course and that's fine, if someone wants to of course they can study it more but there's no need for math past algebra in general education college/University unless you want to study in that area.
What do you suggest kids take in highschool then? I was in advanced math so I didn't even take algebrae in highschool. I started with geometry, then algebrae 2, then pre-calc, then AP calc.Yes of course and that's fine, if someone wants to of course they can study it more but there's no need for math past algebra in general education college/University unless you want to study in that area.
