there was a website dedcated to proving that he got away.

the final chase frames when he supposedly breaks down is the same sequence of when the kid brakes to pull the u-turn. they cut it off just before the cop swerves around him.

if he did stop... wouldnt they show the rest of the cop cars that pull him over with guns out and to see the kidon the pavement???

it probably wasnt a 15 year old driving it. some guy with skills who put shame on a policce department.

With regards to the sound effects, I don't think those were added in. Most police package vehicles today have Eyewitness systems installed in them. There is a microphone pack that the officer wears and when you turn on the overheads on your patrol vehicle, the camera and audio system start recording. Those sounds you heard were probably real sounds from the Eyewitness audio recorder. Also, I don't think that the BMW was ever seriously going to get away from that Camaro. The Camaro had plenty of closing power on that BMW. The officer seemed to back off when the kid started acting squirrely and even more so when he heard the stop sticks were deployed. I'm pretty sure that BMW broke down because it was running up near redline when that kid was hitting 150mph. 150mph sounds like the top end speed for that model of BMW to me, but I'm no expert on it.

Well if you watch some of those chase shows... on some shots you'll hear those tires squeeling... even when they're on gravel...

Watch where the M3 swerves to avoid the spike strip and then watch the BMW "break down." Same clip.

Speaking from experience e36 M3's can take some serious punishment.

The weakest link on the Camaro is the brakes. They fade/warp quickly.

the bmw didnt break down. the "breaking down" footage is the same footage they showed earlier, just slowed down *sigh*

he drove into a residential area, ran somehwere and the cops found him. [edit] i think. [/edit]

they need to get this cop to a better driver school if shoulder movement gets him to spin out...

How do you gather this?

And isn't the M3 designed for going 150mph on the autobahn? I can't imagine much of a market for them in Europe if it can't handle a few minutes at that speed..

Yeah...but cutting through medians and flying across grass ditches between the freeway and the offramp might have done something.

no way going across that little grass patch would make the car break down.

i dont wanna go on with the conspiracy theory aspect of it, but think about it :p

i doubt that m3 was 'supercharged' too :p

Could have cut a tire...picked up a nail...run out of gas...any number of things.

Just playing devil's advocate.

wow, amazed no one bothered to visit "www.m3power.net" to check up some info... :D

This e30 M3 did not break down, the driver was caught later at his home. Viewers were forced to believe the lie. Proof.

If you don't believe the picture in the link, then just open the video twice. Stop the first video at 2:10 and stop the second video at 3:39. The second video supposedly shows the car breaking down, when the road sign and objects on the left side of the scene are identical.

This is the first time I've seen these videos, and I'm pissed they would pull this stupid propaganda stunt.

Oh cmon... the Camaro had an LT1 and "the LT1 is a Corvette motor... it's computer chipped... and it gives it even more performance than what the general public would have." :D :p Hahahahahhaha

They do that to show you that you can't get away from the cops, even though you can.

When this vid first appeared on the net and before it was figured out to be BS I knew it was cause I did exactly that... The only reason it was put together like that is because the show wanted to air a sweet ass chase but the cops didnt want the public to know they can be beaten even in the best car the cops have:)!!!

The obvious reason that they don't have footage of the car breaking down is because the cop car that had the camera was no longer chasing. They producers of the show probably felt that they had to put something in, so they used available footage to dramatize the kid stopping. I didn't see anything amazing about the kid's driving, but the cop's driving wasn't so hot either, since he spun and crashed before the chase was over.

What about the fkin bystanders on the road when you're chasing this kid in the high speed pursuit? You're putting them in danger as much as he is, not to mention he wouldn't be driving at 150mph if he wasn't trying to get away from you, goddamn I hate hypocritical dumb sh!ts

I believe Baltimore acknowledged this and enforces a no-chase policy after it reaches a certain speed.

Honestly, it was only a damn car. Is it really worth the risk of others to catch a car thief that would have almost certainly been caught later down the road (literally) anyway?

No, it's pretty expensive, even prohibitively so, for most departments to put a camera in every car.
