I (and many others) like the first movie because:

1. Did not expect much out of it but was suprised.
2. Kick Ass and Red Mist were a hoot, two loveable losers with attitude, love the scence where they rode around with that red mustang while music was blaring and tried to keep it real.. 😀
3. Love the Hit Girl character, just love her. She carried the movie more than anyone else.

Will see the 2nd movie for sure.

I was weary of the first movie because it had Nick Cage it, but not only did he actually do a good job, even if you hate him regardless of his performance in the movie, he does get burned alive in it so its pretty much win-win 😉

Where is Jim Carey? The dog on your balls guy? Doesn't look or sound like him at all.

Yeah, he plays that guy (Colonel Stars and Stripes).

Isn't more John Murphy just repeating more of his old works 😛 I do like his stuff esp Strobe/Surface of the Sun

Well, I think it's more that he works in a derivation of that song into most of the movies that he composes for. 28 Weeks Later actually had two versions of it (Don Abandons Alice and Leaving England), and Kick Ass used it in the scene where Big Daddy wipes out the guys in the warehouse. It's an excellent song though, so I don't mind. I must not be the only person that thinks so because they also paid homage to it in the zombie-related anime Highschool of the Dead.

how did you guys not realize that was jim carey? did you guys also have a hard time figuring out clark kent was superman?

To be in fair, in some versions of the mythos, Lois Lane has slept with "both" of him before the reveal, and could never tell the difference. That's despite the fact that women are more astute than men are most of the time. 😛

first movie was one of the most overrated movies i've ever seen. and it had nicholas cage in it so it automatically loses points. will check out the trailer for the sequel at home.

Big Daddy and Hit Girl were the only reasons it was watchable.

A spin-off movie of just Hit Girl would be more entertaining. Maybe in two years or so. She'll be 18 by then. Should be good sh*t.

why does 18 matter?

girls can be nude on screen under age18.

look at American Beauty or Pretty Baby

edit:
and why did the Kickass sequel take 5yrs?!

Meh, I didn't see the first one and I can't even tell if this is supposed to be a comedy or not. Not really interested.

This was the problem with the first one. I saw McLovin walking around in his goofy costume looking angry with their serious business music playing, and I'm like...really? REALLY?

I'll tell you what turned me off about the first movie.

The movie started GREAT. I thought it was going to be a 'real life' movie about a kid who wanted to be a super hero. The tone was funny yet it was serious with a convincing tone. Then he beat up some thugs and the video went viral and he became popular. It was all going well.

Then later on, I realized it was actually a comic book movie. And just turned me off.

I still enjoyed it, but it's way too overhyped.
