Ah yes, William Shatner, "the great actor". :D

I'm actually in the minority who tend to like Voyager the best. Species 8472 r0x0rz... "Who could do this to the Borg?!" (However, the Babylon 5 "Shadows" rule.. I think they have yet to come up with a better alien species.)

The original Star Trek movies are sooooo good.

The look on Jim Kirks face when he does the famous "KHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNN!" yell (as you appropiratly put in your title) is priceless. I don't care what anyone says, Bill Shatner is a fine actor.

Star Trek 1 - Machine looking for it's creator (great story). Could have been better...
Star Trek 2 - Revenge. Blinded by rage. A man obseessed. Best Star Trek movie ever
Star Trek 3 - Saving your best friend despite near hopeless odds.
Star Trek 4 - Not so good... but alright.
Star Trek 5 - The quality took a real nose dive here... Was very low budget (comparitivly)
Star Trek 6 - The series goes out with a bang!! Great flick.

STIV was comedy releif and was the most successful of the original ST films. The films were so serious until IV, that Leonard Nimoy decided to have some fun with the crew and it works great! A general rule of thumb with ST movies: always see the even numbered ones. The odd ones are not so good :)

Bill Shatner is not a bad actor, he's an OVER actor. He....tends....to....over...emphisize....his....lines...then...runsthemtogetherintheend. Heheheheh

<< Read the Popular Mechanics from two months ago. It has a big section on NASA's Advanced Propulsion division, and they basically state that if they can find a source of negative energy (which according to Einstein SHOULD exist), they'll be able to warp space and create propulsion (ie- warp drive). Since the space around the theoretical vessel would be streched, the speed of light would be increased in relation to normal space, therefore incredible speeds could be reached while keeping inside the laws of physics. Very interesting read. >>

Uh, huh. And old issues of Popular Mechanics from the '50s said we would have flying cars and be living on the moon by now. While I'm only an armchair physics geek, at least I'm getting my information from sources like A Brief History of Time and Scientific American.

My extremely limited understanding of the concepts of string, super-string, silly-string, et. al are that if there are a multiplicity of dimensions that could be used for "folding" space, they would exist at such a sub-atomic level that people are never going to fit.

"With my last dying breath I stab at thee......who do not like Trek".
Could be a mis-quote.:)

Very much a misquote.

"Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale, to the last I grapple with thee; from hell's heart I stab at thee; for hate's sake I spit my last breath at thee."

From the end of Moby Dick. It's interesting that in this case Kirk is the white whale to Khan's Ahab. Or maybe the script writers were hoping that most people wouldn't know the context and would only pick up that it was a cool reference to something (which is probably true.)
