Didn't KFC start juicing up their chickens in the 90s? or did they stop doing that?

I highly doubt KFC has ever changed their recipe, other than MAYBE the type of oil they fry in. And thats a big maybe.

Maybe its just NY. I remember the KFC in queens when I was growing up. Then moved to manhattan in '74 and had KFC there. Sometime in the late 80s early 90s KFC just began to suck. I dont recall eating KFC out of state in 20+ years. Maybe I will try it next time im on the road.

Pretty sure it's the lard. Around that time many things fried, including french fries, were cooked in lard but were quickly disappearing to be "healthier" vegetable oil. That's what made them taste so good and it's never been the same for many foods.

It's KFC. They aren't exactly known for the premium quality of their product.

they're not? What makes them poor quality. You take a breast, put the seasonings on it and deep fry it in oil. I'm not sure where you're coming from.

My guess is it's just ground. The chickens probably go through a sieve of sorts then undergo a calcium test to ensure no bones have been crushed/grinded in then it's mixed in with the rest until it goes for processing. Just a guess though.

Could also be they are geneticly modified so the bones are extremly high in iron and they just use very powerful magnets. I'm going to go with that. :D

I had some last week, it wasn't too bad, most of the reviews I've read weren't that good, saying they are greasy, but the ones I had was not greasy, lightly battered. I went to the one KFC in the bad area that know what they are doing thou, not sure if that matters.

Have you guys ever had stuffed chicken wings from a Thai place? That's some real deboning, and all by hand. (with hand tools of course)

Umm, chickens are deboned by hand in processing plants. It's not difficult at all. It's probably the easiest deboning there is.

Breast and thighs taste better with the bone. Think fried or BBQ chicken.

The latest craze is just fucking stupid. Boneless thighs. What is a awesome cheap chicken is now expensive and not as good.

We still get the family pack of bone in thighs. Cheap and good meat.

Ok, to you and others trying to be clever lets get something straight.

A chicken breast has no bones in it, if you would like to argue this point go to google images and type in "chicken breast" and show me these magical bones.

BTW I know exactly what you are talking about and I also prefer them with the ribcage still attached when cooking stews/casseroles etc but this doesn't change the fact that chicken breasts do not have bones.

Chicken breast has bones, the rib cage. It also has skin.

Boneless chicken breast of course do not, as they've had the ribcage and breast bone removed. That's what makes them "boneless" chicken breasts.

Remove the skin and bones and you have "Boneless Skinless chicken breasts".

I suppose it depends in what context you are talking about it, when I talk about a breast of a bird it is the muscle not the ribcage although I can see where the confusion arrises.

I hate that people are so lazy they can no longer have bones in their chicken.

Waiting for "KFC PRE-CHEWED NUGGETS!"

I'll really blow your mind then...

Here, buy these Chicken Tenderloins! I mean it's the tenderloin of the chicken so it's the bestest! On sale now for 4.50 a pound, precious Tenderloin!

Nah, KFC used shortening up until not too long ago. And it wasn't the saturated fat craze that did them in, it was the trans fat issue. I think now they use some kind of trans fat free shortening, which to me sounds like it's not shortening at all.

Frying in lard from day 1 would have been healthier than what they're doing today. Lard has a bad rep, probably due to it's funny name and connotation with being fat, but it's not particularly bad for you. Plus, it sounds funny.

I remember when McDonalds still fried their fries in beef tallow. I think the pies were in there too.

Oh I see, since there are no bones inside the breast meat you think the entire rest of the world is stupid when they say boneless breast.
