It's the Government that is stopping the pipeline. Obama, and friends.

In the absence of Government, the pipeline would be easily built.

Not without govt stealing land through eminent domain.

The Canadians can fuck off buying off American GOP politicians in order to seize land to build that Canadian shitpipe.

Except when it doesn't. The issue with nuclear energy is that you don't get to make a mistake, not one. It's not a forgiving form of energy.
They're have been plenty of Nuclear Power mistakes, Chernobyl, Fukushima Daiichi, none of which have even approached catastrophic.

I'm sure the people who lived near Chernobyl will be glad to hear it wasn't a catastrophic event.

It wasn't even the US govt stealing the land. IT was TRANSCANADA. yeah the business was able to use ED and force people off the land.

Yeah, you all keep believing that the pipeline couldn't go around people that wouldn't sell.

It was unquestionably a Government fiat, that decided, nope... this ain't happening.

Derp, derp, derp.

None have approached catastrophic :p

Yep all those are still up and working and never killed anyone and still aren't emitting radiation for next 500 years or so at a high level.

So you don't support using eminent domain to take land from people for private projects? Just trying to be very clear about what you really do support here.

I find it funny that people say the pipeline equaled Capitalism! when real capitalism would be the oil company negotiating with each and every land owner to purchase or lease the land required for the pipe but no, no, no we can't do that because some people will be too difficult to deal with so lets use eminent domain to just take the land.
FU......

Or
When it was first proposed it would add tens of thousands of job, part they failed to mention those would be construction job that would dry up fast after 6-18 months.
FU.....
Or
The Gulf Coast refineries will expand because of all this oil, turned out that yes they'd be some expansion but its mostly about loading it on tankers where it could be sent to China to be refined
FU.....

Real Capitalism, is dead today. Obama blocked the pipeline, when any individual person would have accepted the lucrative offer.

Then why did the oil company go straight to eminent domain? They used that as one of the deals terms.

Final approval was blocked but they never had commitments from the land owners they needed. If approved the only way it would have happened would have been through eminent domain to compel land owners. That certainly isn't the freedom you carry on about.

Specifically if I recall correctly there was significant opposition from land owners in Nebraska that would have been on the proposed route.

I read today Chernobyl will be poisoned for 24,000 years

It might have gotten messy in the middle, or at times, but it was a pipeline through America, and that is a little bit to be expected.

Not just, dismissed as Obama did.

Plus you forgot to mention it was going in the US because the Canadians said they don't want that shit running thru a pipeline in Canada.

Just hand wave the issues away........You can do better than that.

Do you support eminent domain for private projects?

I already answered that, absolutely not.

Interference from Government, and Obama, made it impossible for the pipeline to be built.

Sorry I must have missed your direct response to that question. Thank you.

FYI I found a number of stories about the opposition of land owners in Nebraska.

Here is one where TransCanada initiated legal proceedings to use eminent domain to take what they had not been able to negotiate: http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-keystone-land-2015-0120-story.html

Look at iOwa.
Farmers. Republicans. Joni Ernst.
Drill baby drill.
Sarah Plain.
Yee haw.

Then.... comes along this other pipeline in the planning stages (different from the keystone) that cut straight thru iOwa farmland and thru farm property.
And guess what... all hell broke out.
These Joni Ernst GW Bush right wing drill baby drill Chuck Grassley gerrymandered loving republican farmers suddenly found themselves on the wrong side of the fence.
NOT IN MY BACKYARD !!!!!!!
And off to court they went.
So damn F**King typical.
