it's a fact, actually. serious obesity cause knee problems. it actually causes knees to go more into a valgus position to help with load-bearing. abnormal motion causes degeneration, which, eventually, will manifest itself in symptoms (because symptoms are ALWAYS the last thing to show up whenever there's a problem).

see how the lower leg kinda goes outward? it's to take the load off the low back and knees. if they stayed in their proper place, the knees and low back would get shredded from wear and tear much faster.

From what I read he wasn't thrown off for not buying two seats or what not, they wouldn't let him fly because they over filled the plan and it was "too heavy" to fly.

I've heard this complaint against the airplane industry before. They overbook the plane and then the FAA won't allow them to fly at the weight they have on the plane. So they screw over the passenger and start putting bags on other planes or start unboarding passengers.

Really? Airlines seem to be out to fuck over and humiliate people these days. I'm not saying its not somewhat warranted, but they go out of their way to do it and turn it into more than it needs to be. For all the cases that get reported, I wonder about how many don't, because the people they did it to are too embarrassed to say anything (kinda like the kid that gets ass-raped with a broom handle as part of an initiation).

I'm gonna have to disagree. That would not be in keeping with good customer service, and they dont want the bad publicity. They probably didnt know who Kevin Smith was and that it would be turned into a media debacle. Had they known him, they probably would have worked harder to make him happy.
I dont think any business can be out to get their customers and survive, but when they've got one who's being a hassle, they probably have to make a decision as to when to put their foot down.

According to segment on Nightline I just watched, he usually buys two seats, but this time he did not because he was flying standby.

Agree. Heard that some fattie groups plan to boycott Southwest. Good, I'll use them and not have to worry about some fattie's blubber overflowing onto me.

This sounds like crap. Are you saying planes are flying right at the max weight level? That doesn't sound safe at all. Planes should be loaded way under the max limit, just for safety cushion.
