And where does the word "ketchup" come from?

Could a resident of the US of A clear this problem for me?

The stores all used to have ketchup and catsup. They were exactly the same, but with different names so I could choose one or the other and be happy either way. Now the stores only have ketchup. I have no choice in my condiment and am very angry. What the fuck happened to freedom? What the fuck happened to AMERICA???

Now when I want catsup I need to go to Mexico to get it. And it comes with a parrot on the bottle. A fucking parrot!

I am going to write a letter to Obama to get him to take down the evil ketchup conspiracy. Australian morons are probably the perpetrators.

no, because your logic is flawed. The term "you guys" is referring particularly to Americans in general in your OP. As Americans and Australians appear to define "tomato sauce" differently, as noted in the wikipedia links above, the connection cannot be made.

In other words, FAIL.

It isn't.

I suppose you could stretch it and say that Ketchup is a kind of tomato sauce, but as the wikipedia links show, it isn't in some cases.

So ketchup and tomato sauce are two different products that happen to typically include the same primary ingredients.

Catsup => name that sounds a lot like ketchup but isn't trademarked
