Explain the symmetry button to me like I'm 5, please. TIA.

left click on it, and it gives you 2 evenly spaced pieces (as long as every piece can be attached). click again for 3, 4, 6 or 8, and right click to go down the scale, or left click to go from 8 to 1. if you use symmetry 4 with only 2 spaces, it might automatically go to symmetry 2, or just prevent you from placing the pieces.

build a small rocket, click on symmetry once to get the 2, then click on a horizontal decoupler. mouse over to the rocket and 2 decouplers should appear, one on either side. click to place them on the fuel tank. now leave symmetry on 2, click on a solid rocket booster and place 2 perfectly aligned srb's on your rocket.

if you're using a piece like the tri-coupler, use symmetry 3 to build 3 legs at once. you can also copy a piece by Alt + left click (only the left Alt seems to work for me). if you have a stack of pieces floating off to the side, Alt+ left click will copy the whole stack.

yes I did the tutorial, alot of trial an errors and friggin fun while at it. I made a reliable design so far, able to get a max velocity of 3,000 m/s :D

So you mean if you don't do this, that would explain why my rocket is unstable and keeps flying into the launch pad? :lmao:

Soooooooooooooooooo much easier now! Thanks.

Lol, i watched that video..i hadn't even been using SAS, I was just happy when I had a rocket that stayed straight..but I still haven't got past 20k.

This is quite comical and fun. The planned features sound great. I was thinking it might be cool where you basically had to plan a trip to land on another planet. I see they planning docking, so that would be similar..and tough as hell too.

I did 4 of the big tanks with 4 fuel tanks each then a small rocket on top of that. Nothing else. I went 875k (and left to see how far I would go) apparently no matter how far you go, once you run out of speed, you go back to earth. I came back a half hour later and my capsule had crashed lol. I am not sure how to take more than one screen cap while I'm in the game

@Ivan..there is no real level right now. Just get the part packs and experiment. Right now I'm seeing how crazy I can get and still get take off. I managed 4 of the huge engines, I tried 8 and it just collapsed on the launch pad. lol

You don't always come back down. I've gotten fast enough to leave the planet's gravity(manually messing with engine and tank configs to make super rockets). I kept the simulation running for an hour in the background and my speed didn't drop even by 0.1m/s. I believe the final acceleration speed was 32,000 m/s and an altitude 1,200,000 kilometers. Closed the program after that since there was nothing else to see.

You didn't reach escape velocity then.

Try an orbit now

I was going 1700m/s when I ran out of fuel at around 500k. To me that should have probably been plenty, and it obviously went another 300k after that..that's almost 1million. I'm not sure how far the gravity "pulls" in the simulation..but I would think around there it dies down.

how to you get pass a level? i landed and nothing happens

Thats it for now. Just the Building Simulator...Just have fun trying to build crazy rockets...This game is in the Alpha Stage...no levels or anything yet.

Well, escape velocity at 500km is 2533.42 m/s.

Here's a chart of escape and orbital velocities at various altitudes:

It would be great for the next phase of program development to give the player goals like building designs to send modules into orbit to build an ISS or to the moon, perhaps to launch satellites for profit?

Well since everything has a price on it, I'm guessing at some point you are going to be on some sort of budget having to do with the missions. I am really interested to see where they take this. It's got great potential and maybe a large modding community as well.
