Keeping BitTorrent from saturating my upstream?

I don't mind participating but it's choking my poor box, can anyone recommend a specific torrent build or a utility to throttle this sucker back?

Not really. Only if there are very few seeds.

Download the experimental client. Knowing you, I don't need to say any more.

i use teh expiremental one. if i set my upload at 10k/s it still runs at 40k/s up

it doesent actually work

Jesus, if you're gonna participate in swarm type downloading, just leave the upload speed alone. Kazaa, fine. Bittorrent relies on everyone sharing to enable faster DLs.

set it up 56k

it'll upload at like 3-4kb and download at whatever speed you can handle or is available..

i use to upload like 3kb and download at like 60-70

I wish mine would do that. If I set it to that, mine DL speeds would drop to 3k MAX or even 0k. It's sad. So I leave it on at 10k on dsl/cable slow.

Please read my post, it's a saturation issue. I've got other things to do with my connection as well.

my isp officially has an 1gb upload limit per month. they dont enforce it or monitor it closely, but i dont want to get their attention by uploading like 20 gigs in one month.

you just gotta let it run for a lil bit.

it'll pick up speed once more seeds are available.

I made up for all you leechers back in Februrary. Uploaded over a terabyte with BT with no consequences. 😎
