MONITOR

old 50 rebate
old 30 rebate

30 rebate for 10/2/05
50 rebate for 10/2/05

30 off $150 coupon will take some searching

total: 179.xx - $50MIR - $30MIR - $30COUPON = ~$70 + tax on $150

UPDATE 10/5/05 - noticed price was $169.. not 179... so total now is an even hotter $60.

I've done this deal (or slightly sweeter) twice, with no rebate problems.
The monitor goes by various model numbers (like XF-9B, XF-9Bi) with slightly different specs (w/regard to refresh rates especially). I've been very happy with my dual-monitor set-up for a couple years now, in a non-serious-gaming environment.
One word of caution: these monitors are HUGE, and take significant desk space.

edit: Alive again 10/2/05 - 10/8/05 continental US, 10/9/05 - 10/15/05 Alaska/Hawaii

Monitor specs: http://www.kdsusa.com/XF9s.asp

1600x1200 @ 65hz is crappy, but at least it can do 85hz @ 1280x960. I might pick one up since my 19 inch Sony died, but I probably won't like it since I've been raised on Trinitron monitors :(

They are ok. Thats what im typing on right now. I have a 19 KDS ExtremeFlat. The picture quality on it is ok. I liked the picture quality on a 17 in ctx i use to have better. It wouldn't compare to like a sony triton or mitshibishi diamond though.

I too like mine... When i got this deal (or similar), I got the b model which gives lower refresh rates at desirable resolutions.

Wondering if I can still do the deal without the 30 off of 150 coupon....my moniter has crazy geometry issues and I've lived with for a little over a month and now I just can't stand it.

why not use the 30 off 150? Maybe you don't know about some TECHnical BARGAINSy type places that may be able to help you?

Oh, and I'll update the dates to show this deal has been revived!

This is great! I've been trying to find a 19" CRT for my mother (she needs to run at 1024x768--so LCD was out). Thanks for the heads up!

bumped because I just noticed an even lower price

Thread used to say $70 ar/ar/ac

Now the price is $60 after instant-savings/ar/ar/ac

Have one but don't recall if it's the -B or -Bi version, running it at 1200x900 (Detonator driver custom resolution) @ 95Hz refresh.

It does ok for a $60 AR monitor, though I agree with another poster, no contest between this and a Trinitron.

Note that this is a supposed flatscreen BUT it's not really flat!! Either it has a 2nd sheet of glass in front of a slightly curved tube or the tube itself has a curved phosphor surface that's thinning in the middle to result in the edges being thicker glass. Either way, alot of the esthetics of it being a flatscreen are lost because of this, the only really good aspect to it being nearly (if not exactly) flat on the outer surface is that it doesn't reflect light in so many directions like it would if outer surface was curved too.

I felt cheated by that aspect of it, then I remembered that I'd paid only $70 AR (from Oiffce Depot a year or two ago).

It seems about time for this deal to come up again....

if you're looking to get one, just keep checking
