To check out the slow download speeds people are getting, I just tried downloading a few files:

- one is coming over around 1 Kb/s
- another at .05 Kb/s
- and the last one at over 30 Kb/s

I also remember a few days ago, I grabbed a several hundred megabyte file at over 80 Kb/s!! I'm sure that is a new record for me with P2P programs.

Hmm, until I get more evidence, I'll fault KaZaA's unintelligent downloading agent. Optimally, it should be able to sort the searches by bandwidth and download from the sources with the highest available bandwidth first.

If you have a broadband connection, I highly recommend that you increase the number of allowable downloads. I have mine set anywhere between 30-50. Look in Tools/Options/Traffic in the Limits Box. That way, with some of the more popular files (files with many multiple sources) you can keep right clicking to select 'find more sources' and download from as many sources as you like until you are satisfied with the speed.

Just an FYI, I cut and paste all my "dat" files from Morhpeus to my Kazaa download folder. Everything resumed fine, until the download was complete. It still showed up as a "dat" file, so I just renamed the file extension into what it was supposed to be. In my case "avi". Worked like a charm.

Hope this helps someone 🙂

Also, remember people, this is peer to peer. So, share whatcha got! That's the best way for everyone to get faster speeds. Don't be one of those people who leech and never shares. You'll notice (esp w/ movies) people will cancel your download if you're not sharing anything.

If you're limited by 56K, just share for like an hour a day. 😛

I switched back to regular Kazaa.
Want to see whats up with the dl speeds..

As for netscape 6, I would consider Mozilla if they EVER make it to version ONE... (how many years have they been working on it???)
When you have a database on your site for just reporting bugs, hrmm, I'll pass....

(All I do is say I dont want winamp installed, and I dont use aol netscape client)
musta taken me all of extra 5 secs in my dl =)

I don't like IE and I was using Cookie Pal with it and N4.7. N6 is much better than 4.7 so thats why I switched

🙂
Edit: wow still getting the same shotty speeds... DAMN YOU, NEW EX-MORPHEUS MEMBERS!

Hey, how come everyone either shuts off or ignores the messaging in Kazza? I try to contact people to let them know there is something I NEED and no one replies (well, one guy did but then he disappeared - guess I scared him). They obviously have it. Some of these people share everything in their Hard drive - an example would be C:\Program Files\Photomax - now what good is that to anyone? 🙂

xhale,

Thanks for the head up. I tried those already but still no luck. Somehow I modified my registry back then when I remove some LOP.COM entry. Something was not right there, so I reinstall OS over it and everything works perfectly.

Thanks for all the helps.

** ADD **

Is it that the new version of Ad-Aware? I ran it and found more LOP.COM spyware on my PC, even though I reinstall my OS. Wow. Thanks for the software.

Very nice stuff. Cleaned out a ton of spyware crap with ad-aware, and put in the superhosts trick. Less ads and whatnot to deal with!

<< I'm getting "Error 404 File not found" also. Has it moved? >>

Same here - anybody want to email it to me? 😀

<< Can someone give me a link to that Supertrick thing? >>

Follow the Kazaa-Lite link, and look at the top of the page....

Not sure if this was mentioned in the thread previously since I didn't want to read 250 messages, but a second program has been piggybacking on kazaa since the fall and there are plans to turn it on in the next month and use your unused computing power. They say they ask first, but I'm a little skeptical. Did kazaa lite take this out and if not, someone know how? Here is the article.
