To check out the slow download speeds people are getting, I just tried downloading a few files:
- one is coming over around 1 Kb/s
- another at .05 Kb/s
- and the last one at over 30 Kb/s
I also remember a few days ago, I grabbed a several hundred megabyte file at over 80 Kb/s!! I'm sure that is a new record for me with P2P programs.
Hmm, until I get more evidence, I'll fault KaZaA's unintelligent downloading agent. Optimally, it should be able to sort the searches by bandwidth and download from the sources with the highest available bandwidth first.
If you have a broadband connection, I highly recommend that you increase the number of allowable downloads. I have mine set anywhere between 30-50. Look in Tools/Options/Traffic in the Limits Box. That way, with some of the more popular files (files with many multiple sources) you can keep right clicking to select 'find more sources' and download from as many sources as you like until you are satisfied with the speed.
