Both believe Kavanaugh is a good judge and a good man.
Yes, he agrees with republican viewpoints, reliably. I'd find it easier to agree with the latter had the man not lied at his interview. He is clearly hiding information both private and professional.
Both condemned the partisan bickering and deplorable loss of civility.
Both should be reminded they, as republicans, lost that high ground almost 2 years ago now. Got a problem with civility? Blame the orange buffoon for reducing the bar even lower than what they did when Obama was in office. People are angry about the very real possibility of being disenfranchised by extremist ideologues, and are done playing nice. The fucking of feelings has been embraced, oh well.
Collins focused on Kavanaugh’s judicial record, which stands in stark contrast to those who would portray him as an extremist. I imagine the fund setup to sway her vote, and the harassment she’s received, motivated her vote to act in defiance to it, because those things are a threat to our institutions for different reasons.
He lied, period. She is acting like the last 2 years of legislative hack and slash hasn't happened, to say nothing of the constant affronts to women; the naivete is breathtaking. This should be the easiet thing she does all year. That it's happening to a pro-choice woman just..wow. Sorry Susan, you don't bolster the integrity of the institution by compromising it with a partisan without judicial temperament. I'll take ex-Justice Stevens word on this over yours any day.
Harassment is wrong. Protestors doing their thing peacefully is a Tough Shit situation, comes with the job. Deal with it. Same for the fund setup, no sympathy at all for that.
