So who here thinks the gop is scared of Avenatti?

Clearly the dems are, but I find it odd that Collins went out of her way to single out him as why he's voting yes (the logic of which makes no fucking sense.)

I can't figure out if they are generally trying to shut him down, or use reverse psychology, play him up as to strengthen him in the D base because they believe he can be a disruption

Both condemned the partisan bickering and deplorable loss of civility.

The GOP made it that way when they snubbed Garland & changed the rules. Garland would have likely made the 60 vote hurdle whereas Gorsuch & Kavanaugh never would.

The GOP would have to offer up less blatantly partisan & dishonest candidates.

Collins and Murkowski both released intelligent statements that are worth the time to read. Tip of the hat to both of them.

Both believe Kavanaugh is a good judge and a good man.

Both condemned the partisan bickering and deplorable loss of civility.

Murkowski came to the conclusion that the integrity of our institutions are greater than any one candidate, and I respect how she framed her decision.

Collins focused on Kavanaugh’s judicial record, which stands in stark contrast to those who would portray him as an extremist. I imagine the fund setup to sway her vote, and the harassment she’s received, motivated her vote to act in defiance to it, because those things are a threat to our institutions for different reasons.
He is an extremist, for example, he thinks that your ISP is not a "pipeline operator" for content you decide, but an "editor" or "speaker" with a First Amendment right to decide what content you get to see:
“The First Amendment does not allow the FCC to treat Internet service providers as mere pipeline operators rather than as First Amendment-protected editors and speakers.”

Corporate authoritarianism? Couldn't be...

It's an obviously dumb statement.

Does this feel like our "institutions" have been protected by any part of this process?

How many people are feeling that across the country? Like their government is living up to the ideals of the revolution?

Whole lot less than those ready to go to war again.

She needs to step out of the ivory tower and into the real world. Well, maybe don't. I wouldn't assume it's safe for her.

Senate and SCOTUS poisoned as institutions and the country divided and headed for unrest. This is Taney Court 2.0.

Yeah.... LOCK HER UP, LOCK HER UP, LOCK HER UP!

Right?

One thing that most people don't understand is that people are never ruled innocent, only not guilty. That means that even if there is a strong suspicion that isn't enough to consider the person guilty but it doesn't mean the person is innocent either.

For example, OJ was ruled not guilty... Does that mean he's innocent?
LOL
innocent

  • adj.
Uncorrupted by evil, malice, or wrongdoing; sinless: an innocent child.
  • adj.
Not guilty of a specific crime or offense; legally blameless: was innocent of all charges.
"He's not just famous, he's IN-famous!"

So in other words you hope Kavanaugh’s decisions are biased against Democrats because you think they were mean to him.

There is something wrong with your brain.

Isn't Dari the dude that was totally "asking for a friend" about safe ways for "his friend" to murder his girlfriend?

Yes, this is a safe assumption.

Yes, he agrees with republican viewpoints, reliably. I'd find it easier to agree with the latter had the man not lied at his interview. He is clearly hiding information both private and professional.

Both condemned the partisan bickering and deplorable loss of civility.

Both should be reminded they, as republicans, lost that high ground almost 2 years ago now. Got a problem with civility? Blame the orange buffoon for reducing the bar even lower than what they did when Obama was in office. People are angry about the very real possibility of being disenfranchised by extremist ideologues, and are done playing nice. The fucking of feelings has been embraced, oh well.

He lied, period. She is acting like the last 2 years of legislative hack and slash hasn't happened, to say nothing of the constant affronts to women; the naivete is breathtaking. This should be the easiet thing she does all year. That it's happening to a pro-choice woman just..wow. Sorry Susan, you don't bolster the integrity of the institution by compromising it with a partisan without judicial temperament. I'll take ex-Justice Stevens word on this over yours any day.

Harassment is wrong. Protestors doing their thing peacefully is a Tough Shit situation, comes with the job. Deal with it. Same for the fund setup, no sympathy at all for that.

OK so what you are saying is that "not guilty" means innocent? OJ is innocent?

That is not how this works and the definition is usage of the word, not actual meaning in a legal matter.

Also it's wrong, no one has EVER been found "innocent of all charges" that isn't even a term used. Not guilty means that you were accused of a crime but the prosecutor could not get past the limit of reasonable doubt. This doesn't mean that the suspect is innocent, it just means that he's found "not guilty".

You probably know this already (if you are older than 10) and I don't really see the point in your contention.

This is very wrong. I suggest you read this:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/09/20/brett-kavanaughs-unlikely-story-about-democrats-stolen-documents/

It is nearly certain he repeatedly lied about using criminally obtained documents in the past as well.

The guy appears to lie about basically everything. He’s a disgrace.

Republicans explicitly prevented an investigation into that from happening, which was my whole point.

Effectively, republicans prevented any investigation from happening and then said there was no evidence. Incredible dishonesty.
From your own story :"The best-case scenario is that Kavanaugh, who is up for a seat on the nation’s highest court, has a glaring lack of curiosity or a superficial level of discernment."

No "nearly certain", no perjury. Unless you want to claim that 3 Pinocchios is a legal term for perjury.

That's not how the legal system works (not that the is even a trial.)

These cases are often a single victim, single perp crime situation that results in a he said/she said situation with no physical evidence.

By your standard, it would mean you could freely assault others provided you didn't get caught by a witness.

However, there was a witness. Mark Judge. But he was never subpoenaed and made to testify in the Senate, nor is it apparent that he was aggressively interviewed by the FBI.
The 3 other people she named as witnesses support Kavanaugh's story that he wasn't there and didn't do it, not her.

Should use the techniques that Kavanaugh loves and defends to get the truth out of them.

A bit of torture never hurt anyone, as Kavanaugh would say.
Nice lie, you're getting better, you need more practice though. Keep reading posts by Jhhnn and fskiholespy to hone your mad skills.

I just read on reddit that Avenatti failed to deliver and his bluff got called and he had to revise his affidavit or some crap. These reddit kids follow news better than I.

It looks like Avenatti is not delivering or is turning out to be more sizzle than substance. I hope not.

We're screwed. Blue wave and impeach KAvanagh. That's a long long long ways ahead.

GOP is ENERGIZED. Can you guys not feel it? Mueller investigation may be a dud as they can deny reality - the whole GOP party and white house.

Blue Wave we dearly need it.

Because creepy porn lawyer creeps everyone out ?

Not as much as the orange rapist (according to Ivana), sexual assaulter per his own admission and creepy old fuck in teenage girls locker rooms. Not to mention a man who said that he'd date his own daughter if he wasn't her father and agreed that she could be referred to as "a piece of ass".

I mean, that is the standard set for what is acceptable and what you absolutely adore.

But hey, Avenetti who represents woman who was paid off for keeping quiet about Trump fucking her when his wife was at home with their baby... Yeah, he's the creepy guy.

You can't claim the moral high ground, you're deep in the sewer eating shit at this point.

Keep praying for it, maybe it'll happen. Thanks for doing everything you guys could do to energize the conservatives, Libertarians, independents and Republicans to get out and vote against the filthy attacks on Judge Kavanaugh and his family and the political liars and scum that did it.
