Graham does not look happy... and that makes me happy.

For the life of me I don't understand why he'd be pissed at the idea of delaying the vote for a week for the FBI to do a quick investigation, talking to Ford, Kavanaugh, Judge, and others alleged to be there. Well, unless Graham believes Ford's account.

If the GOP just rams this nomination through it becomes a huge hammer to beat over the GOP during midterms the same way Roy Moore's taking advantage of minors was in the Alabama special election for Sessions' vacant seat. Alabama's seat that would have never gone blue without that. If Kavanaugh is indeed innocent and the FBI shows this to be a big nothingburger that's huge for the GOP in the midterms.

No one usually wants to open themselves to an investigation, but the smart thing for Kavanaugh to do yesterday would have been to ask the FBI to investigate the case (unless he's guilty). Then he wouldn't have come off as the partisan hack he is with his Clinton revenge conspiracy.

Not quite. If, and it's a big if, Flake and others insist on the delay of one week for an investigation before the Senate vote they may get it. If he stands firm and someone else is with him.

LIke I said, big if.

Does this mewling shell of a man on TV now sound like someone who won't fold?

Grassley saw what was coming and nipped it in the bud. He cut off his own party member from submitting a motion to delay and aow an investigation. Chairman's privilege. Dems are still going to act surprised and shocked that GOP can stoop so low.

You ignore the utter disrespect the GOP has shown for the majority. Stuffing Kavanaugh down America's throat is just one example.

On the contrary, this is what the people voted for. The right won what is our fair and long established process, the left was rejected. The winner of the presidency election picks SC justices, the people pick the president in our election. Are you familiar with the system?

Me watching this play out:

Smart move by Flake, it's a limited scope investigation only on accusations already made. Doesn't change a thing.

There is no investigation...Grassley fucked him. "Gentleman's and ladies agreement indeed"...

McConnell will find a way to whip the votes. He'll bring the outliers to heel just like Grassley did.

"up to a week" . By Senate rules wed. or thur. was the earliest a floor vote could be held, now they'll hold it on Friday and give Republicans cover that an FBI investigation into allegations was made. It's a win/win for Republicans. Unless of course nastiness is found out, in that case it'll still be a win.

The implication is that Flake has the wherewithal withhold the needed votes if McConnell does not agree. Flake is close with Collins and Murkowski.

The people voted for Clinton. The Electoral College voted for Trump. Why can't you guys be happy with being in power without having to make up BS about Trump being the peoples' champion?

That doesn't address the issue of disrespect for the majority at all. You merely reinforce it. If you think a majority of Americans are just dying to have Kavanaugh on the SCOTUS you're out of your mind.

This is a very good solution in my opinion. But I'm left to wonder if the goalposts will be moved by Democrats once the FBI investigation is complete next week assuming they're unable to find any evidence corroborating Ms. Ford's allegation or the allegations of the other two. Magic 8-Ball says "You may rely on it".

Hope he's confirmed. If that doesn't make people realize that the GOP is the party of sexual assault and that the court and current government is illegitimate, nothing will, so fuck them.

Yeah, it seems like the theory is that they don't have 50 votes if they don't agree to a 1 week investigation. I guess we'll see.

It really won't matter, a floor vote will be scheduled and will occur on Thursday or Friday. Some kind of limited scope FBI investigation will be held in the next few days, Unless they turn up new evidence things will stand as they are and Kavanaugh will be approved with increased cover for waffling votes.

There is no guarantee of an FBI investigation yet, and there may not even be one. Flake folded like a cheap suit he is, trying to make himself look good in the process.
Now, anyone know where Judge is hiding?

I expect this as well. But will Trump order the investigation? I give it a 50/50 shot.
