Just spitballing here but maybe the women that confronted Flake had more of an impact than many appreciated. He could still very well vote yes but he's somehow tapped the breaks on the committee vote for the moment which isn't something I would have predicted.

Some emerging word that the discussions are revolving around further investigation to be done by the FBI but to last no longer than a week.

Partisans like yourself came out against him within seconds of his being named, for no other reason than the person that named him. Don't lie that it has anything at all to do about the man.

Which is exactly what McConnell did in March 2016. I don't how the Republicans can claim anything different.

What is happening? It sounds like flake wants an FBI investigation but Grassely says "we're voting now"

Flake voted to advance but wants a delay on the floor vote. Backroom negotiating in the front room now.

No, Flake was speaking and Grassley barked "we're taking a vote on the nominee" and started the vote...and Flake voted "yea". Passed 11-10, McConnell's in full control now. No FBI investigation likely.

Not quite. If, and it's a big if, Flake and others insist on the delay of one week for an investigation before the Senate vote they may get it. If he stands firm and someone else is with him.

LIke I said, big if.

Pretty smart move by Flake. Now he gets all these congratulations from democrats and gets to claim he supports women and still gets his conservative hack judge. Flake wins, republicans wins, democrats and America lose and Flake gets congratulated by everyone.
