Nik isn't a noob. Ronstang isn't a noob.

I think relegating the blame to "noobs" is juvenile.

actually i did.

i did not feel that they deserved that much money. It really ticked me off that they were getting that much plus all the other crap they got. it was just insane.

But i am fine with these poeple getting 2k for emergancy. Long as they do not use it to buy crap like big screen tv's or such. Though they should have had money put away and insurance. My insurance will give me an emergancy money and pay for hotel until i can get back on my feet.

How is the above comment racist? A large amount of people in fact did loot after Katrina. It doesn't matter if they are white, black, hispanic, etc. but they still did loot.

2 grand isn't much, probably less than 1 month in a cheap hotel. And that's not counting food.

Well the great thing about debit cards is you can track purchases...so we can see how much $$$ is being spent at Publix and Safeway and how much is spent at TJ's Package Store or V1 Entertainment Group.

No, they're not. They're well intentioned, but misinformed liberals.

Im talking about people whining about helping some of their fellow citizens out when they need it the most. What is the point of a country when people are dissatisfied about the government assisting some of its own people when they have lost everything.

You can not judge an entire group of people by the actions of a few idiots. The media loves to focus on the looters that stole items they could never use, but in reality, the amount of looters in comparison to the amount of people that were stranded and lost everything is infinitismal. On top of that, some of the looting was justified, I'm sure many of us would have stolen food if we had nothing to eat or drink.

Great, now the gangsta'si in N.O can buy some chrome rims for their new pimp-mobile that the insurance company will more than likely reimburse them for.

From this quote, I can see the only one that assumed anything about race is you.

I think they should give these people a chance to become temporary government employees, helping with the cleanup efforts for their money.

Otherwise it's like "great! $2000! Now I can sit around all day with no job and no home and wonder what the hell I'm going to do!"

Cha Ching!

Cha ching? These people have lost everything they had, and $2000. is considered "cha-ching?" Mind you not that the comments of "buy stock in Colt45!" are any better, but I think its a tad insensitive to the situation.

Pretty much a new low. Don't they realized that $2000 is nothing if you have to start a new?
To the guy to say insurance (assume there is a coverage because of hurricane zone) will pay his claims as he stayed in a nice hotel - try to make a claim when you lost all the paper works. That is assuming your insurance company is out of the affected area. If they are in the affected area and can't handle your claims for a few month, try to live in that nice hotel on $2000 for a few months.

QFT, but the thing is most of ATers who talk a lot aren't old or responsible enough to realize this. Although I would have to agree and say that the probability that the people who get this will drop the money on things that are frivolous and then complain to get more aid is quite high.

Guess what mr. smart guy. A few years ago my friends house burned down and he had no problems filing his claim and living in a Marriott for a YEAR. Please stick your "ifs" back where they belong. What IF people didn't depend on the government and were personally responsible?

That's great for your friend.

How about you do that to whole entire cities. These people ALL have been left with NOTHING over night. No job to go to, no nothing. I for one believe in personal responsibility. But for fvcks sake. Listen to yourself and put yourself into someone else's shoes.

Most of the poieple have no where to go at this point and have been living in a sports stadium with 10,000 other people. With no food, no water, and with usually some clothes on their backs.
