I really couldn't care less. I'm just relaying the facts; trying to stay away from the propoganda that is likely spouted by the large number of Indian decendants here. I don't think this is a black and white situation. Did you even bother to read the CNN info I posted?

Yes, I read the info. The bottom line is, there is no way India will give up Kashmir. This fighting will continue until either Pakistan stops backing the militants, or either Pak or Ind is destroyed.

I don't know if they are backing the militants. That's like saying the US Govt. is backing the Army of God or Timothy McVeigh.

At the same time, I do believe Musharif has the ability to stop them if he really tries. At the time, he was helping us out by patrolling for Al Queida on the western border.

India and Pakistan were separated as Secular and Muslim countries - not as Hindu and Muslim countries. BTW, sometime back there was an online petition signed by over 60,000 people accusing CNN of pro-Pakistan bias in its reporting. Pakistan is an Islamic Fundamentalist state. Kashmir has a Muslim majority in the range of 60-40 or something like that - and that AFTER the Hindu Pandits in that state were chased out in ethnic cleansing by Pakistan backed militants. Pakistan harbours al Qaeda terrorists and the ISI has its finger in the 9-11 pie. BDawg, you can think of all this as propaganda, but apparently your Government no longer treats it as merely such.

...not to mention the saudi/afghani transplants that the pakistani scurry up to perpetuate the fight. ISI support of the Taliban starts to make a little more sense, doesn't it?

Lemme guess, this is coming from someone who is not of Pakistani or Indian decent, right?

I don't know what you mean by my government no longer treats it as mearly such...Bush never said Musharif supported the terrorists, he just told Musharif to stop them.

If CNN had a nickel for every time a group accuses them of being pro-something because they reported something that group didn't want people to hear, they'd have a sh**load of nickels. I'm sure the Indian press is largely impartial in this discussion.

BDawg, Suhasini Haidar, the writer of the CNN FAQ is Muslim. Since the conflict is very heated along Muslim and Hindu lines, you are likely not going to get an impartial viewpoint from either.

Is it entirely impossible for Muslims to be impartial? I certainly hope not. I really don't think CNN would be putting out information partial to either side, especially as similar as the content is to the BBC site (who is known world wide for their quality of journalism).

Personally, I think the world should give the middle finger to both countries and their cavalier attitude on nuclear weapons. Make Kashmir an autonomous country, I bet it's what they want anyway.

Thats ridiculous. Unless you have some evidence of bias in that article (or past articles), I dont even see why you would bring that up. Besides that, if you are to claim that I'd like to see what specifically you dispute with his writings, or how the CNN version compares to the BBC version (are they biased as well?)

You should know by now, it's easier to attack the person rather than the issue.

And the posession of South Carolina has not been disputed since it's border lines were drawn...not that I'd be too upset to lose South Carolina.

Oh wait, they're an advertiser at AT...I mean South Carolina is a great place to visit 5-star places and friendly faces, and now the majority of the children have shoes and can read. ;)

Edit: I love how the picture by "What is India" has a beautiful image of the Taj Majal, and the picture by "What is Pakistan" has a soldier firing into a city street. Lack of bias at it's best.

And I know people will say, but they're Kashmiris...like there aren't people who believe in each side lvining in Kashmir.
