This has nothing to do with head trauma. My father always told me unstable relationships, friends or otherwise, lead to terrible events.

Steve McNair wasnt crazy, the bitch was crazy and he still got killed. If head trauma were the real reason boxers would fair far far worse than nfl players.

Whens the last time you heard of a boxer wearing a diaper and driving thousands of miles to kill a loved one? Never. Normal Men/women kill their wives/husbands/children all the time, and far more people kill themselves. Athletes are human, have some respect.

That's not right at all. The new evidence is that all the head trauma does have an effect on the brain and causes depression and other severe mental issues. This has all been much more widely researched due to the head traumas military personnel have been experiencing. The NFL is riding on the coattails of that research because the NFL player receives many concussions too. To dismiss all this new research on your anecdotal ignorance of boxing is a tad absurd.

So how many concussions did this guy have?

fuck this asshole. i have no sympathy for people who commit suicide then throw in he offing his girlfriend. Good riddance.

Yeah, she deserved to die because she was a hoe. He was a good dude!

What is wrong with your thinking?

we dont even know what happened. its more likely she threatened to kill him and their kid and then shot herself and afterwards he shot himself. i havent seen anyone say anything but good things about jovan since this happened. its really unfortunate, he was making 2 mil a year, he could have replaced her in two seconds, no need for a guy like that to let a hoe ruin his life

No idea. Chiefs claim not many, but it is being attributed to it in the article.

And Outhouse, you're part of the problem.

wow, so some are tying to claim it was head trauma? Puhleeze... This BS has got to stop. It wasn't too many years ago that they played without helmets or only light hats. Yes the players are bigger and faster now but it doesn't change things too much as the gear has kept pace.

I almost hate watching the NFL now due to the pussification by the league. Put a damn skirt on the QB and put flags on all other players FFS.

lol you're so dumb. back when they didn't play without helmets, the men were much slower and much lighter. Now you have 350 pound linemen who can sprint faster than linebackers/running backs back in the day.

Being a conservative, you probably don't give a shit about the science that shows that repeated head trauma from playing football increases the chance of deteriorating brain tissue.

Not only that, but the assumption that those 'back in the day' toughed it out is FALSE.

A lot of them have mental issues, brain damage, are broke, etc., but the league pays no attention to them.

What are you talking about? He shot his girlfriend in their home. His mother lived with them, and was the one that reported it to the police. He's was a loser, I don't care how much he made.

Intelligence is something that you lack.

It's difficult to judge others should or should not have done when we only know half truths and rumors. Odds are we will NEVER really know all the facts.
Dig, this is the case with so many of the similar tragedies we hear about every day.

lol did you even read what I wrote? Sheesh. I swear you and your types don't have a logical bone in your body and just shoot off based on your feelings.

Yes yes yes, blah blah blah repeated hits... we know. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean EVERYTHING can be blamed on it nor does it mean football needs pussified. It's a tough sport without counting head blows. What's next, can't tackle below the waist so we don't loose players to knee/ankle injuries? you know since it can cause long term disability... IT'S A SPORT. People get injured and they know the risks.

Until relatively recently they did not know the risks with respect to head trauma, and even today we don't fully understand the risks involved.

I really doubt this had anything to do with it.

That is why I asked that question to Nintendesert. The link he posted is kind of miss leading. The title of the article said "struggled with head injuries" but in the article it says he is "a player who had not had a long concussion history.’’. I agree it was mostly not due to concussions.

There's nothing misleading about it. You think concussions are only sustained in the NFL and not in the years playing beforehand?

Concussions have already been shown to cause and contribute to severe mental issues. The research is extensive with thousands of subjects due to the wars in the Middle East. Only recently has the research been extended to football as the same types of depression/mental problems have been seen with the players.

There's another thread with more studies linking football to severe mental problems. Holy shit look at boxers and the long witnessed "punch drunk" problems. Repeated blows to the head causing issues isn't new, the problem is a bunch of ignorant football fans decrying any evidence that might take away what violence is left in the game.

I also guarantee the next sports to be affected by these studies are going to be soccer and UFC. You can't keep pounding the brain and expect people to be ok.

What people need to get over is thinking that these head injuries cause it exclusively, these concussions also contribute to a worsening of already existing mental issues.

On one hand, he could have challenged his girlfriend, it would have been a big trial, DNA tests and such, and he would have likely lost his job at the Chiefs. It would have been the best scandal since OJ Simpson, especially with all the guessing on who the real father is.

This way, the girlfriend is out of the equation, and with him gone, there is no trial and this thing can now easily be just swept under the rug. To help with diversion, we will start a campaign of domestic abuse and head trauma. Yes, we can easily call it domestic abuse since the victims are now dead.

Is there any history with this couple having domestic abuse problems prior? Is there any medical history of head injuries? Has anyone ran a DNA test on the baby yet?

Fact is, the KC Chiefs are big enough advertisers with the various radio stations and newspapers that they can control what is printed and said about this problem. Even now, here in Kansas City, the local TV stations are all scratching their heads of why this happened, as no reason can be found, but still pushing domestic abuse and head trauma. Hmm……. I don’t think we will ever find the real reason.

Many Chiefs players are speaking up. I would suspect the player who is most quiet.

With some stories also stating he was abusing pain killers I'd be interested to see if it was a team doctor allowing him to abuse the prescription drugs.
