Greedflation sucks man!

Try driving to Rochester or Syracuse once every 2-3 weeks and stocking up on stuff.. might be cheaper that way.

Those local prices are nuts!

What's frustrating is a lot of this shit is local. I can get a lb of ground beef or pork from one of the Asian markets near me for like two bucks that comes from a town over, just frustrating to make a half dozen different stops for food.

I do stick to the Asian markets when I can, they tend to have a great selection and quality for what they carry. And as a bonus, no goddamned music.

Grocery store music can be so weird. I swear every fucking time I went to the Kroger in Dearborn they were playing "Welcome to the Jungle".

My wife likes those fishballs so those are a tad expensive, but otherwise we try and only buy stuff on sale.

BTW I have noticed people charge a lot. Tons of traps around here to get more money from you. It's like a minefield.. $24 for a haircut but if you know where.. you can get it for $8 still on tuesdays.. etc. Then they're labor charges.. auto car repair or construction

Infact that's how I got into DIY.. 3 years ago I was quoted $8000 to fix 2 loose tiles in my bathroom that had come unglued. I said fuck that.. did it myself for $1200 in tools and about $1000 in parts and did it right with thinset.. like who the fuck uses glue on a bathroom tile job?

So I guess I'm just seeing things when mayo is $6/jar, ground beef is $7.50/lb, chicken breasts are $12.50/lb, iceberg 'crunchy water' lettuce is $3 a head, and freaking blueberries are like $1/oz? All in my head yeah?
Where the fuck are you shopping? I pay $5.60/lb for ground sirloin (93/7), $4.99/lb for chicken breasts, I never buy lettuce so IDK, and I pay about $5.50/18oz of Blueberries.

ETA: This is from my local grocery chain that is only in OKC. Kroger has started home delivery here, but they are significantly more expensive on everything.

Looks like the best I can do locally is Trader Joe's 80/20 for $4.49. Too fatty for most of our uses though which is why we get Costco 91/9 at $5.88/lb.
Yeah, the 80/20 is too fatty for us too. So I pay for the 90+ stuff.

It's under 30 bucks for a bit over 6lb of freshly ground beef at Costco. I know because I buy two of those a month for my dog.

I can promise you Tops is not considered an overpriced store. It's just a grocery chain, like many. Mostly cheap junk, some overpriced organic stuff, and decent enough stuff on the edge of the store if you can manage to cook without burning a pot of water.
Tops never stops charging you more.

Who remembers the good old days when Royal Dansk used to sell butter cookies in a tall tin box, and inside the tin box there were multiple layers of Danish cookies stacked on top of each other? Did inflation caused the end of that?

It's now just hard tack and the bin is made out of lead.

I used to get those as gifts when I was younger.

Heck even shortbread cookies were $2.50 for a dozen, now they only hold 9 cookies and are $3.75

BTW how stupid does he think we are??
I keep telling you it is a religion.
They don't give a !@#$ about reality. Never did.

I pay under $6 per pound for frozen at Costco.
I pay < $6.00/lb at Costco for stew meat (or the lean & cheap steaks, they are almost as cheap as stew meat) and grind it myself. I know what's in it, can trim fat before grinding too. I use an attachment that works on Osterizer blenders. I freeze in patties between pieces of freezer paper.

You could probably buy stew meat and ask the butcher to grind it for you for free (a tip from my butcher uncle, who worked at Safeway. He told me if I knew what they put in ground beef I'd be appalled).

This really is pretty good. Pro tip: Rather than trying to read it in, say, Chrome, I read it in Brave Browser, where I didn't have to suffer all the goddamn ads.

Point is, there's a giant market for lies these days. All kinds of people prefer lies to truth. In particular those who make their money in ways they couldn't if they or their customers knew the truth, but also people who are living a lie, and there are oh so many.
