I think RFK exiting does help Trump some, but not much. He's going to get a bigger share of that ~5% than Harris, which is going to be a net gain.

I expect most of the RFK voters to just not vote though.
As of today, it's still a coin-flip election. Harris/Walz has all the momentum but it's not like we're up 5 points in all of the battleground states.

I wish Harris will be declared the President-Elect on election night, but I'm not holding my breath over it.

If Harris wins the Republicans will filibuster EVERYTHING. She had better be prepared to bust that up.

You get one free pass for a budget related item so she will have to be judicious with that.

I think there'd have to be a pretty massive and clear victory for that to happen, especially given what we already know about GOP attempts to cause difficulty with the process, it's certainly plausible there are machinations that they've thus far managed to keep under wraps. I'm assuming that regardless of the victory margin (in the event of a Harris win) there will be lawsuits filed immediately after election day.

Hopefully North Carolina or a surprise Florida goes to Harris and we can all go to bed early.

Man what a relief that would be!! Not just a squeaker of a win, but an outright and undeniable repudiation of That Fucking Guy

I have a feeling Texas is in play but with how much they've suppressed the vote there.. who the hell really knows?

Wouldn't be a bad idea to put their entire suppression apparatus in jail to have a free and fair election.

A loss here would also make it four elections in a row after 2016 where the GOP did poorly. You would think at some point they would get tired of losing.

What I'd like her to do is..

Trump: you let 20 million illegals in

Counter: Wasn't your Trump wall supposed to stop em? What'd you do with 38 trillion dollars of our taxes? Gave em away to your sons instead of building a wall that works?

Trump: you will destroy the economy

Counter: You destroyed it by raising everyone's taxes and shitting all over the place. Are you guys tired of always having to clean up other people's shit? Make sure you vote and tell this dude how you feel about it.

Basically make him look like an idiot and bait him to get the C word, N word out into the open.
Looks like there's more people here at the debate than your rallies. Offer him a bar of soap .

If you plot the Texas election results from 2000 onwards, it becomes a 50/50 state around the 2028 election. But, there is a lot of noise, so a really good candidate might be able to reach 50/50 sooner. Harris isn't there yet. It would take more than what she's done so far to win Texas. But, it might be closer than many people realize.

No, the filibuster should go in the trash heap. Majorities should be able to govern.
Mob rule is the best. What could go wrong?

The filibuster should go back to what it was intended for though: rare, critical situations. It shouldn't be easy, it shouldn't be routine, it shouldn't be common. And it shouldn't be allowed when just one rogue player wants to put a wrench in the gears. But, it does serve a critical purpose.

The filibuster as it was originally used was a speed bump if the majority wanted to move forward. Humans can only stand and speak for so long. It’s this 60 vote cloture motion bullshit that is the disaster.

sometimes the NYT opinion page gets it right. texting with my mom last night after her speech, we both loved it, and I said "she has really grown into the moment perfectly"

she really really has. a lot of people were shitting on Kamala like she had to be the same person who was part of a poor campaign in 2020, and some us pointed out, four years is a long time and she has clearly become better, you have to give her a chance, you can't just assume she is the same as 2020.
I don't have a sense of her campaign in 2020. There were many high level Democrats vying for the nomination. I heard recently that she ended her bid because they ran out of money. That would kill any campaign.

I knew about her history. She's a trailblazer (in multiple ways), her mom was instrumental instilling that. She's made quantum leaps several times. From prosecutor to district attorney to state attorney general to senator to Vice President (and, IIRC, she's never lost a race!). Those all require redefining yourself. Her quickly rising to the occasion as presumptive and then actual nominee can be seen as that once again. I have not been surprised in the least that she's surpassing people's expectations and if she wins, I would not be surprised if she simply amazes in her capacity as POTUS.

Or as I like to think, stand up for 40 hours talking about random shit while every person in the country knows you are doing it to delay healthcare for veterans.

She went straight for the carotid arteries of Trump. She spoke on character and polices. Both of which he has none. It was an exceptional speech. Well done. It's fucking moving.
I watched the Obamas' speeches just before her's. I think that dampened my impression of her's a bit. But I thought it was pretty good and hit the important parts. But man I miss Obama.

What’s funny is how once democrats took the lead you disappeared. Now you’ve come back with filling your diaper here.

Care to explain anything?

Took a break from politics for the past month or so. My timing sucks I guess.
