The difference between Hitler and Trump is that Germany's economy had spiraled into an inflationary black hole and the USA's economy is in pretty good shape. The German people gave Hitler dictatorial powers. Trump may want them (he does, at least sometimes, we know that) but is he going to get them? He may be immune from prosecution if he tries to act as dictator but will he be able to do just anything he wants? A lot of people here think so, but I don't think it will happen like that.
Just like 2016 Trump is handed a good economy from Dems and will take credit

Journalistic and mainstream media collapse.
Question is if it's ever coming back. I foresee sham elections like in Russia from hereon out. Buckle up.

This is exactly what I see and have been saying. And the R’s will fall back to mocking and full on attacking (I’m not just thinking verbally) any challenge to their sham elections.

Western democracy is in a steep decline. The next WW will not be to stop fascism, it will be about resources from multiple totalitarian regimes.

we need a straight white male for presidential candidate next time. i'm pretty sure that's the main reason she lost.
It's something to consider. Major nations have had female highest leaders but not the 3 biggest:

USA
Russia
China

That may not change any time soon. I'm not happy about that but that may be how it goes.

I know I am awaiting the deportation of millions of brown people back to their countries which will cost hundreds of billions of US dollars and cost us trillions of dollars in lost growth. Maybe they will deport the millions of Irish people because we aren't white people.

Immune from prosecution, but he can't decree a constitutional amendment. It has to happen by virtue of constitutionally proscribed actions. Trump can't just say I want a 3rd term. That was made impossible after FDR did it when it was permissible.

Sure, for normal people that would follow the law. Trump has shown there are no rules for him. I don't consider anything outside the realm of possibility when it comes to him and his behavior.

Hard to find disagreement in that assessment
It's not difficult at all.

The country didn't shift right, they just believe the firehose of misinformation that "the economy sucks and it's Democrats' fault." This is because the average voter has no idea how the economy or our government works. A majority of voters believe that when you put a Democrat in the White House, that is all he/she needs to fix everything wrong in their life. They don't know who controls the House, who controls the Senate, how new laws materialize. They think the president is sitting in his office pulling levers that increase/decrease gas prices and egg prices. Trump's just going to pull the lever in the opposite direction and everyone will finally be millionaires.

We have most of the equivalents of those conservative media outlets, there is just no appetite for them on the left. That's why Fox always beats MSNBC in ratings by a wide margin. Conservatives love sweet lies that make them feel fuzzy inside, and they fucking LOVE regurgitating them to every person within earshot every chance they get.

So no, Micah Erfan, whoever the fuck that is, doesn't know wtf he is babbling about.

SCOTUS tossed it when they deemed Trump to be immune from "official acts" while he is President.
Immune from prosecution when acting in his official capacities. That's not unlimited power, it's protection from prosecution.

None of that matters. The President can legally have anyone he wants assassinated until he achieves the result he desires. Congresspeople, judges, governors and anyone else.
And you think the chaos that would ensue would not bring the nation to its knees?

All of a sudden all that will be needed to prove Trump's economy is strong is a decent stock market. If (when) the stock market falls and we slip into a recession, well, Elon has already primed the populace for "some hardship is necessary." Many of you will die and he's okay with that.

Hitler did not start as an extreme fascist. He literally said the same things trump says. Blamed the immigrants, deport the undesirables, enemies of the state, etc. How far it goes depends on how far his supporters (both within and without of the govt) will take it.

You motherfuckers really don't get it. There isn't some great divide between humans. Groups of humans (and individuals for that matter) all behave pretty much the same. We're on the actual cusp of a transition of government to something much, much worse, and I can't wait for it to happen so that a) we can get it over with faster, and so b) i can hear all the fucking idiots saying 'nobody could have predicted that this would happen' right before I bash them over the head with a rock.

What chaos? You think anyone on Earth is capable of stopping the US military? I don't think a second American Revolution is even remotely possible anymore.

Remember, Trump can have any judge who rules against him killed and that’s perfectly legal.
Where do you get that? You think the SCOTUS decision handed him that? Who does he have on speed dial that he says kill that person and they just go do it? Putin has stuff like that going on but we don't AFAIK.

Heh, get your upgrades now.

How do you think Xi is going to act in the next four years? Someone's getting more secret Chinese bank accounts I think.

It is always about the economy. Unfortunately Biden did a reasonable job getting us through the hard times into our current state of relatively stable growth. Covid caused a permanent reset in wages and inflation in our country and the world. Trump will cut taxes, gasoline will gradually come down and he will take credit for any economic growth. I was listening this morning and they were saying on Morning Joe that those tv ads during football games showing Kamala advocating for sex change operations for illegals and images of obviously Latino men putting on lipstick were particularly powerful among white older men and women. It appears the US is not ready for a female president, nor equal rights for minorities or other groups they consider bad. As slow as the US is regarding change I don't foresee it changing in my lifetime. I feel for all of my friends of color and gays, because I think things will regress for them nationally.

Abortion ballot measures went 7/10 and came really close in an 8th.

It won't matter when the Reich enacts their abortion ban in Congress.

You might want to re-examine just what SCOTUS ruled.

It's really scary to think DJT will be in charge of the military again. I honestly don't know how the generals and admirals will be able to stay in their positions and stand up to him, I predict a lot of them will be gone and replaced by his stooges.

It was literally one of the questions/arguments during the orals before SCOTUS. A scenario where the president could have SEAL Team 6 execute anyone and he would be immune. The court, in their opinion agreed as it was deemed to be in his enumerated official powers (Commander in Chief).
