It's way too early and there are too many conflicting economic signs. Some say it's good, but coincidence or not, things have changed in the last weeks.

Half of White Americans Say They Are 'Worse Off Financially' Than Year Ago

A YouGov survey found 44 percent of American adults think they are worse off financially than they were a year ago.

Latest Unemployment Report Is 'Big Warning Sign,' Economic Expert Says

Last month, the unemployment rate reached 4.3 percent, a significant bump up from 3.5 percent the year prior.

Can you provide one example of this? Just one person who doesn't realize that Congress exists and thinks they vote directly on every piece of legislation and law in this country?
People say Democracy which means small D. Most know we have a representative Republic. Same way people say we are a capitalist society but we do not practice pure capitalism.

The fed shoulda cut at their meeting a few days ago because now they look stupid and late but the market is already pricing in a bigger cut than anticipated in September.

LOL! *twitch*...yeah I'm gonna need therapy now that you took me back to 2016....

They are always out to get Bernie! (And for the record, I like Bernie better than most Congress critters, but his Trump-cult-like zealots, not so much)

I went to see my financial advisor today. In his office people were talking how can this country be so stupid.. Trump is the greatest thing since sliced bread and C word - A L A would be their downfall. FFS the rates dropped 2% just today.. or something and openly repeating that on phones to their clients.

I'm not kidding.. he said they love to make fun of him too but he's like lets not talk politics in the office.

There's a lot more racism that you do not see on the street when a couple of white people get together and comfy behind walls!

Financial surveys are always a bit specious, because it's all vibes. The data we have from the Federal Reserve shows most people are doing fine:
Many people are just upset because the private taxis for their burritos are now costing a lot, now that venture capital is no longer underwriting delivery costs and extremely cheap labor has been evaporating.

I have a conspiracy theory..

Dems cater to lower income surveys.

However there's a ton of criminals who are actually well to do off, but pretend like they're lower income. FFS just look at the COVID scams and all that stuff where the government just gave money for actual paychecks to employees but instead were spent on luxury stuff or just put into gold bar or some investment where the government can't get it's money back if they come looking.. maybe Gold Bar Bob Menendez.

So generally a lot more people are actually doing fine than the actual numbers on the survey.

It's basically Trumpism.. lower value for tax purposes, but increase it when it fits you.

Weird, I work in a white collar job with myself and others just breaking 6 figures and that doesn't describe any of my co-workers as far as I know, except the household part since houses are so goddamned expensive.

Does that median include non-homeowners?

I haven't worked at all since 2011 and those numbers are reasonably close though I have quite a bit more in liquid savings. Own outright so no housing payments to worry about.

Household income includes all households, whether they are renters or owners.

That number is getting skewed by the widening wealth gap. The Haves mostly likely have millions in net worth, much of it on paper and tied up in assets they can't really use. The Have Nots are more likely to keep funds in banks and probably have under $10,000 available in everything they own.

A homeowner would have some portion of the home value as an asset. Renters have nothing in that column.

It's the median. The number that is 50% are above, 50% are below. You're thinking of the mean.
