Just watched a SJW game the system

I had an old anatomy professor tell the story of how she became a nurse just to get the biology education (in the 60's) and then she worked in a histology lab instead and tried to stay in academia as much as possible. Once women were more accepted in education she got her masters/phd and now teaches.

Just thought it was interesting. People forget how much has changed.

And that's great! It happened because she wanted to and barriers were removed that allowed her to pursue the dream she had.

These are the sort of people that make it rich by gaming the system and walking all over people, then use said riches to further game the system and insulate themselves from the consequences of their jackass behavior.

I'm not that surprised really. At my company you literally have to steal or do something pretty illegal to get fired. At on top of that, it takes probably 6 months for all the paper work to get through.

Just being a generic asshole who complains a lot and does shit work has about 0 consequence here.

Do you work for the gubnit?

Michigan is an 'At will' state so unless it was for one of the small handfull of protected reasons the company can legally fire you for some reason. The performance review process is something the company chooses to do but doesn't have to

He wasn't laid off - he put in his 2 weeks and quit. Not sure there are too many places that give you a severance package if you decide to leave voluntarily. Even if there are I can assure you that, at this company (and the last 3 I've worked at), if I put in my two weeks today that I would not get an additional 2 weeks of pay and benefits until January 1st. In fact there was someone of the same minority that put in their two weeks early this year but got no severance package.

But he gets special treatment because he felt he deserved it

The guy sounds like a total piece of crap.

I will say though that I have heard in IT that giving your two weeks can frequently lead to being shown the door but still paid for that two weeks. Given two weeks from now is December and benefits typically run through the end of whatever month you leave none of this feels like they are giving him anything special. More like they are letting him think he got some great deal when he really just got a pretty standard deal.

In any case I freakin' hate these kind of people. There are a lot of people with legitimate issues and complaints and every person that takes illegitimate advantage of that weakens it for everyone else. Actually some of them don't even think they are illegitimate, that's maybe the worst of them all. I hope they get the karmic retribution they so rightfully deserve but I doubt it will happen.

Actually, the comment about class disparity means that he IS in fact an SJW.

He was also on the constant look out for what he called 'Ethics issues'. It was an ethics issue that when he asked a random person sitting next to a conference room if he could eat his lunch in there and they said no because he had seen lunch meetings in there. At a stretch it might have been dickish but it isn't our (IT's) conference room so ethics issue seems a stretch.

A professor asked us about getting her interview from CNN that we helped coordinate and he launched into a long lecture about the 'ethics of not getting permission from CNN first'. She was just asking for help about how to go about getting the recording from them - not asking to stream rip it from the site

There are others - those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head
