You can do whatever you want with it. It does take some setup though.

I love the idea having a customized F2K, but with all on my plate, finding time to learn how to modify my bad-ass media player is pretty low on the totem.

Looking at his "download," there is still tons of stuff to do - download and install other components, modify some codes, etc.

Is there some fubar site that offers complete, 0-setup downloads (the entire Fubar2K directory,) or is the general attitude "if you don't have time to learn how to do it, you shouldn't be using Fubar in the first place?"

edit: Ok, I did play around with it a bit and have it almost looking like his. I am missing a few things. The visualization at the bottom - I have it installed, but it's not active for some reason. The Current Track info that appears on the right between the Album Art and the control buttons - there's nothing there. Also, is it normal to have to manually swap panes to get the Album Art panel on the right each time you start up? And gah - is there no auto-sort? Do I have to manually rearrange all the tracks per album so that the matching Album Art isn't a jumbled mess?

Someday, I will quit being a WMP fanboy and consider other alternatives for music :p

For video, I spent a fair bit of time learning how to configure ffdshow to get the best possible picture and was immensely pleased with the results. Then, I took some captures in WMP-default/WMP-ffdshow and Nero Showtime (all detail sliders maxed) and was surprised to see I liked Showtime's picture the most (better saturated colors). I was stumped!

My current config...

It's a modified 'Brumal's Winter' config from http://www.fooblog2000.com/

I like it though...

Edit: Here are the changes I made:
In the playlist area:
I changed the color of the rows and progress bars. I also changed the time display to show current/total instead of -remaining.
Turned off the visualization and made the playlist panel fill the gap

In the album art area:
I changed the color of the progress bar and removed the rating stars

In the area with the picture (lower right hand corner):
I changed the picture to a portion of my desktop bg, which I also (crudely) photoshopped to have the white blur thing on it.
I also changed the fonts of the big number (Informal Roman) and the times (Stencil).

Overall, it's a little more personal, and I like the looks now better than it was stock.

Edit2: I also turned off the playback counter and some other stuff that I can't remember...

The different components aren't that hard to find, you can find most all of them just on hydrogen audio's wiki.

You may have the wrong visualization component, the one you need is foo_uie_vis_egoh.dll. On the page where I downloaded it, there were two different ones, and one of them is seems to be another UI (like PanelsUI or ColumnsUI), while the other is just a visualization shower.

Not sure about the panes, I turned off the browser panes and only left the playlist and album art ones.

As far as the sort thing.. I'm not sure if there's an auto-sort feature within Foobar2k. I always sort my music manually. But I don't put all my music into one playlist either. I have separate playlists for separate artists, and just listen to whatever I feel like listening to at the time.

how does one actually move files using Foobar? I've read that is a feature, but I don't know how to do it.

After reading this thread, I finally decided to switch (long term winamp user here). I couldn't live without the 'Enhancer' plugin for winamp, but was delighted to find that there was an addon available for foobar that allowed the use of winamp plugins.

So after a ridiculous amount of trial and error I got it setup halfway decent. Link

I'm still struggling with it, trying to figure out how to do this and that. BTW thats a modified version of a custom-config that I couldn't get working properly.

Once people start undertanding that bells and whistels don't make the music sound any better .... they realize foobar is all they need and it's the most efficient interface there is.

next track is 'v', previous si shift-v.

Works with all your fancy keyboard shortcuts (and remotes that some laptops have)

Remember to get THE codec packs!!!

FOOBAR IS THE BEST BY FAR!!!

I actually use the 'winamp' keyboard shortcuts in foobar. 'z' to go back, 'x' to play, 'c' to pause/unpause, 'v' to stop and 'b' to go to the next track.

I think I'll set shift-v or shift-b to goto a random track.
