I didn't think the latest Batman movie was nearly as good as everyone's making it out to be. I liked The Dark Knight, but I think the latest one is simply too long. I also don't think X-Men: First Class was a very good movie. Sure, Xavier and Magneto were good in the movie, but most of the "second class" mutants weren't nearly as good, and I thought that they dragged the film down a bit.

I never saw the newer Spider-Man movie, but I would definitely like to see Emma Stone!

Getting back on topic. Its still worth watching when it hits DVD if you netflix or something

id say no. I kept looking at my phone hoping it was closer to the end than it actually was.

Im usually pretty easy, and end up enjoying almost anything. Even crappy movies i can accept for what they are and usually at least wanna see the ending. This movie i probably would have walked out on if i was by myself.

If you are gonna watch it, do something else while your watching it. Id say its a good movie to watch while cleaning around the house, or fixing something. Thats about it.

I did not like it that much, but i also thought Emma Stone was not that hot at all...She looked good from afar, but the close ups did not come out good at all...

This spiderman was easily on par with the spiderman 1 and beats out 2 and 3 without a doubt. It stayed truer to the lore (mechanical web shooters, witty/sarcastic spidey who was a genius in the classroom) than all of the other spiderman. It had a "Kickass" feel for anyone who saw that movie. Sally Field and Dennis Leary were great, Emma Stone was in short skirts for most of the movie and 10X the eye candy of Dunst. The CGI was obviously better than the previous trilogy and they actually made the Lizard scary-ish (I thought he'd be lame going into it). There was also well timed humor. All in all I gave it a 7.5-8 out of 10 due to minor realism questions (Lizard not killing Gwen in the tower, Peter not being recruited for sports after his superhuman feats in high school, Gwen coming up with the antidote all by herself which took generations of scientists to create the lizard formula).

Compared to the Dark Knight, I don't think it can hang with any of them except the first (8/10). The last 2 were 9's in my book.

Keep in mind that I'm biased b/c I grew up reading Spiderman and Batman.

I agree with the new batman not being as good as everyone says. The more I think back on it, the more I didn't like the Batman aspects and more really only cared for the Bane or Catwoman stuff. The movie had so many plot holes it's hard to take it seriously.

The new Spiderman has gotten a a lot of mixed reviews. Half In The Bag thought it was awful, Doug Walker thought it was amazing. Which I think sums it up. You either love it or you hate it. Though I do think they're rebooting these franchises too far quickly. Classic Hollywood execs playing it safe by recycling established franchises ad nauseum.

I'll be honest, I put the blame on the Financial Indsutry getting more of a hand in Hollywood than anything else. They need their profits and they don't want to take risks(lol i no rite?)

At this rate many franchises will be rebooting every 10 or so years because the execs know that they will make enough money and there is no reason to try to tell a new story

You're far from the only ones.. I raged quite a bit about how bad the new bat was in another thread.

It's my understanding that Sony had to put out a new Spiderman movie in order to retain the rights to the franchise.

I thought it was decent. It definitely could have been worse. Captain America was terrible and the Hulk movies were mostly forgettable. This had very well done CGI and was a fairly fun movie.

Well, I already know how lonely "Hater's Corner" is from being someone that dislikes X-Men: First Class. :p

Emma Stone was in short skirts for most of the movie and 10X the eye candy of Dunst.

But does the movie have the saucy rain scene like the original Spider-Man. That scene at least featured major THO! ;)

Lizard not killing Gwen in the tower

Wouldn't that go against the comics that you said the story did a good job with? Peter accidentally kills Gwen.

I can make any argument that I want because my opinion is my own. The first batman movie was boring as fuck, not even a good movie. I tried rewatching it thinking it was my state of mind, nope. I liked the second one, a lot in fact - but it was still highly overrated. I liked this one as well, but its hardly as good as some people make it out to be - and frankly, I was bored throughout the movie. Definitely not the entire first 90 mins but most of it.

Also. I liked Real Steel. That movie was awesome and original

It was only original in the sense people controlled robots through their movements, otherwise it was the same, tired underdog cliche movie.

See my review from the movie review thread.

The new spider guy was bad, just like a studdering dude on drug and with bad hair. The only saving grace were E. Stone and the CGI (more fluid and life like). Oh yeah, kudo for the cameo libarian :)

I am not saying the movie was bad, just it was bad comparing to the original with Toby. I haven' see or hear from anyone that would say this movie is as good or better than Spiderman 1.

New Spidey spends the entire movie walking around in a hoodie dragging a skateboard. Makes himself look like a complete idiot the entire movie. The only thing Amazing Spiderman did better than Sam Raimi's Spidey1 was Ben Parker's death, and then, only marginally.

Spiderman 1 and 2 were both great movies, Raimi must have had a stroke or something with Spidey 3.

And all three Nolan Batman movies were awesome, by far the best Batman movies made ever. Burton's Batman 1989 was great too, but falls far short of Batman Begins.

AMDZen, Real Steel was based on a Twilight Zone episode. Haven't seen the movie myself, can't comment on it.

I actually have no problem with Real Steel in that it wasn't awful. I just don't think it's some original work of art. To be honest one of the reasons I liked it is because I kept thinking of Over the Top. Anyone else remember that movie? It was equally awesome. And awful. :)

Am I the only one who like the Daredevil movie?

As for Batman. They all pretty much suck, the michael eaton ones are a joke, the Nolan ones are way too long and tedious altho ledger was a phenomenal joker. All and I mean ALL the superman movies are pathetic. Spiderman? pah, crap, all of them. I did like iron man 1 but not 2. I liked thor and I like the avengers. I liked the ed norton hulk movie but all other hulks sucked, including the old show. I almost like the first xmen movie but all others sucked as did all FF movies.

The funny thing is I have collected comics for 30+ years, have 10k of them and hate most superhero movies.

I've never seen anything like the overrating of these Batman movies so these are far and away the most overrated movies of all time, IMO. I can't think of anything that even compares, accept maybe Star Wars which was just so bad, when fans were expecting so much. Nothing will ever match the kind of hype those movies had.

I'm actually a movie nerd and watch tons of movies. Like I said, this movie was good - maybe even very good but its not nearly as good (IMO of course) as nearly everyone else thinks it is. Which is why I like it when some people try and take it down a notch, at least not everyone loved it.

Movies I've seen recently I really liked = God Bless America. Very funny and something I would love to do. Get the beloved patriot was good, people hate Mel Gibson - I'm not one of those people. In fact one of his movies would make my top list, even top 3-4 movies of all time. Avengers was pretty good, still a little overrated but nothing like this Batman movie that is even more overrated than the second movie. I like the second movie better than this last one. Nothing will ever top Heath as the Joker in any comic book movie, ever.

There are things I like of each of the Nolan Batman films better than the others, as in... in some ways I think Batman Begins was best, but yet in many ways the other two get the nod. And honestly, I cannot even begin to describe how I've arrived at that conclusion - it's more of a personal feeling than a critical dissection.

But I also think the Nolan Batman films are getting the "over-hype" coverage and opinions is not because a lot of us think these films are "omg the best movies evar!!"... rather, we see them in the light of all movies that have come before in in the same genre. Essentially, we are comparing them to other comic book films - and in that, a lot of us can agree, they are some of the best comic book movies out there, especially in regards to their substance/style.
I personally think Iron Man is one of the greatest comic book movies too - but it's almost entirely different; if you like a dark and gritty comic book movie, Nolan's Batman series is, imho, absolutely the best the genre has seen.

As for The Dark Knight, even outside of the comic-book genre, that movie definitely deserves praise imho - simply because of the overall movie, and most certainly because Heath Ledger's Joker.
As a method actor, after you see just how well he got into that character, it's no wonder he went off the deep end (accidental or not - I don't doubt he got himself into quite a mess for that character). Honestly, purely in terms of acting and character (removing the comic book notions), it was one of the best portrayals of a villain ever filmed.

For Nolan in general - yes, dammit, I think he needs to stop the "3 hour movie" trend. It's okay every now and then, and I've enjoyed every movie of his that I have watched... but sometimes it takes away from the idea of repeat viewings, especially if any part of a movie feels like it drags a little too long.

I wouldn't classify him as a "best of Hollywood - give him every award possible" type of director/writer, but his non-Batman movies I've all equally enjoyed and have viewed multiple times. Memento? The Prestige? Inception? Check, check, check.

I am actually quite anxious to see what his next project will be (one that he helms. as he only gets partial writing credit for Man of Steel - and I'll probably skip that anyway since I've never liked Superman).

Did the CGI get any better from the trailers? Cuz that shit looked fake as hell.

Well they paid the Spiderman guy $500k for starring in a summer blockbuster, so I don't imagine the special effects budget fared any better...

BTW I agree with all of this. I think most of the batman movies now are very slow and very boring. I never read comics as a kid so couldn't give less of a sh*t about the canon (any time you see this word it means you're about to get some pretentious opinion on how something does or doesn't adhere strictly to what some guy made up in his head while high on drugs).

OP deserves to have hated this Spiderman movie, it's really his just desserts for going to see such a recent reboot and frankly he should have known better.

Until people stop seeing this sh*t movies they won't stop making them.

More accurately, you're the only one who saw it.
