Just returned from CompUSA, Best Buy, Circuit City, Walmart

Grand Nagus
Someone I know from Los Angeles PM'd me wishing me well as they're leaving to get in line at @ BB now.

BB doesn't open for another 15.5 hours.

Dayum!

11/23/2006 11:30 PM PST UPDATE:

The following took place Thursday 11/23/2006 between 9PM-11:30 PM PST.

CompUSA - we got there around 8:50 PM while it was raining and stood in line for a whopping 10 minutes. There were already over 350 people in line and once the doors opened everyone was very orderly. That's when the real fun begins. My primary mission was to buy the Linksys wireless router and FAR bluetooth headset, that's it. When we entered the store I made the mistake of turning left instead of right. Eventually I discovered the bluetooth headsets sold out in right after the doors opened, if only I had turned right instead of left. But I did score a Linksys wireless router for $19.99, soaked in the mayhem and chaos then made a beeline to the cashier. We were done and out of the store by 9:30 PM which is pretty impressive.

Toys R Us - none

Target - no one was waiting in line. They were all waiting in their warm dry cars and I don't blame them. Relax there were only 3 cars in the entire parking lot.

Linens-N-Things - none

Circuit City - around 8 people

Wal-Mart 1 - around 4 people

Wal-Mart 2 - none

Best Buy - The first person got in line at 2:30 PM and the others started ariving around 4:00PM. When I arrived at 11:20 PM there were over 100 people in line.

If you're on the west coast and haven't left yet. It's pretty safe to assume your BB is already packed. Try Wal-Mart then Circuit City.

I think the lines will start filling up around 1AM and will go into full throttle between AM - 3:00 AM.

Any chance of snatching the Westinghouse 22" LCD if I casually waltz in around 8-9? It's no at early bird item...

People camped out longer for the PS3. But yeah this is still crazy.

It's because BF is too close to PS3 and Wii launch dates. If those two never happened, they probably wouldn't be lining up now.

Exactly. It makes sense to camp out for the PS3 (eBay profits) but 15.5 hours for BF just seems insane. Some people really really want that $249 laptop, $999 Plasma, etc.

also rumors that bestbuy/whatever store has restock shipments of ps3s that they are selling on Friday.

ps. Wii as well

Black Friday: People already lining up at Best Buy?

LoL,....

For whatever reason I read the title as,

"Black People already lining up at Best Buy?"

LOL

And I thought to myself, Why? Is Kramer going to be there?

😱

Sorry,..... I must be retarded or something.

🙁

I didn't plan on lining up anywhere until 3AM. I guess no monitor for me this year. I agree that the PS3 and Wii launches messed everything up this year.

I seriously hate Black Friday for doing regular shopping. We were having a Thanksgiving party and we walked to Wal Mart at like 4AM, wasted to get some Pizza Rolls. We just happened to walk past the electronics section to get to the food area, and we were pestered by like 3 groups of people waiting in line for stuff. "Hey, you better not be cutting" "Hey, the back of the line is over here". Fvcking people.

Wow, that's just sad. A day meant for spending time with family and friends and you're standing in line trying to get a $200 off on a Celeron M laptop ...

That's what is especially amazing, THAT LAPTOP SUCKS! There's a reason it's super cheap! You'll make what, $150 at best on ebay after everything is said and done (fees, shipping, etc.)? Some people are lining up 15 hours early, so apparently making less than $10/hour is appealling to them?

Just passed by my local one about thirty minutes ago (5:30 Central) and there were easily 30 people camped out up front. The first 5 or so had tents and were sitting in lawn chairs in front of their tents. The next 10 or so were in lawn chairs with blankets on them (it's 65 outside right now - low for tonight is supposed to be 54). The rest of the people were just standing against the wall or were sitting on the ground with jackets on.

At least half were female and middle-aged. The rest were youngish guys.
