I just recieved my 2ghz computer from Alienware. It kicks the *** outta my bros comp (Dell 8100) with almost the same specs. I also bought a 22' NEC monitor... I have to stare up and down since its so big =) Also Kilpsch 2.1 sound is amazing!

I bought an Alienware a few years ago and quickly realized how much they ripped me off. Not that it wasn't a good system, and I like the little alienware logo on the case, but it was stilll a ripoff.

Good gawd, that's over priced! For $4100 you could have had SCSI and a GF3 had you built it yourself.

Did you at least get a socket 478 mobo so you could upgrade to the new P4s later on?

LukFilm, I've called Alienware and they want sell you a case unless you buy the computer with it. Alienware's cases start life as Antec SX 1040 SOHO File Server Cases(long name for a computer case), there available in black and beige, I have a black one. I got mine from Directron.com for $129.00 but they have the black model on sale for $98.00.

Damn that looks nice. It may be a bit overpriced, but hey if you can afford it- why not :)

The video card choice surprises me though- wouldn't be my choice in that system for any use

He is obviously a rich yuppie with wealthy parents.

He is more worried about how big is screen is then how much it cost.

And to whom does he need to apologize about that?

So what if his parents are rich and bought a $4k(!?!?!?) computer for him? It's his (parent's) money, not yours.

Sweet system. Way better than Dell. ;) I like the SCSI HDD. Can you post some HD Tach scores or sisoft sandra scores for the HDD? The video card is pretty good and it has its place among affordable solutions, but for a system that expensive I would have expected a lot better than a $100 budget card. It should have come with a Geforce 3.

A good geforce 3 will do everything a AIW radeon or radeon 8500 will do, and game better.

Might lose some 2d, but if you get a GOOD geforce3 and not a el cheapo, it will be fine.

he wants all the features of a allin wonder
and good 2d quality

gaming is not important

And your point is?? I simply said the reason why he could care less what he paid for it, is yuppie parents bought it for him. Alienware makes millions of dollars off yuppies every day.
