Go to the authorities. Threats of violence over the phone or the internet are federal offenses. Atleast go to the authorities to get it on record that you have been threatened. That way, if something happens, you already have an official Cover Your Ass file started.

Read. He already did that.

Ack. That's what I get for not reading the entire thread. >_<

Oh well. In that case if I were Aphex, I'd inform the gentleman that I've gone to the authorities with notification of his threat and that if anything happens, they'll know exactly who to point the finger at. Next, I would inform him that if the harrassment does not stop, that there will be harrassment charges filed and threaten with a restraining order. :)

Lemme clarify a few things;

1) He owns his OWN business. The email was sent from his bellsouth account with his business name in the From Field. The headers are intact and show all his info, including his Full Name and IP Address.

2) We were able to call my former boss and find out his business address, business phone number, and Legal Agent (who incidentally works across the street from my mom).

3) Since i dont live in the area any longer, my dad is in the process of going to speak to a local lawyer about my next step.

4) Luckily for me, my parents are best friends with a senior officer at the Brroward Sherrifs Office (BSO). They have contacted him and he is going to work on filing the restraining order and any applicable charges.

5) I am going to contact his ISP & the FCC this evening, notifying them of the threats he is sending across the internet. I will NOT let this guy get away with this.

6) I will not be getting a gun. I will be purchasing a baseball bat this evening.

7) Fergot to mention, i called my local cops last night and they said since the email did not have a direct threat, only vague threats they couldnt do anything. I think the lady was just lazy. Im stopping by tonight.

Thanks for all the help, i'll hopefully be back on with cable tonight.

Need to run, gotta get back to work...

:(

Felony Terroristic Threatening.

Some kid was just charged with that after threatening to shoot up his school.

First of all, send him an email telling him where he can go and learn the proper english. Second laugh it off. 3rd I would call the local police and give them a copy of the email, along with the young lady's name and address who you built the pc for. Trust me guys like this are just all talk.

My proposed reply:
Hello Gary,

You are a real genius. No, I really mean that, you're just brilliant.

Not only have you sent me a threatening email promising to 'make my life a living hell', but you also sent it directly from your Bell South ISP account, making it readily traceable to you, over FCC regulated lines, and you actually included your name on it!

I will be sending copies of your threat to the FBI's Internet Crimes Division, the Federal Communications Commission, and local police authorities. I will be formally pursuing a complaint of harrassment and terroristic threats with those law enforcement and regulatory agencies. I am also filing a complaint with Bell South, I'm reasonably sure they would not want their services to be used for criminal or threatening activities.

Just wanted to let you know how utterly brilliant you are. Have a nice day, Einstein.

Nice. Add few links like fbi.gov, www.whitehouse.gov/homeland, etc., and also mention few statutes.

It seems it's sort of under control, but that is just sad that people do this. I hope he get's what he deserves and that everything goes well. If you do reply, show a link to this thread, and also post up his IP addie here or in the email. Not for hacking/trouble intentions, but to show you know it. Leave a time stamp as well. If you don't have the IP in the header or just get the server's IP instead of his (that happends sometimes) let me know, I can hook you up with some nifty tracking device which only works with html mail, but I assume this is html mail that he has.

I've used it before in similar cases, I had threats before, but nothing that serious though. Only had one to "watch the door" and the guy lived a few continents away so I did not worry but it was still a threat. If you have not, do file it in to all authorities you can (his isp, FCC etc). Good luck!

well after reading the majority of this thread... I'd be screwed in this situation. My initial knee-jerk reaction would have been to call the guy up and use just about every variation of every swear word I know to the guy, followed by my own personal threat back to him that if her were to call back I'd be going over to his house and kicking the living fvck out of him.

So much for legal ass-covering, I prefer the instant gratification of a phone call or in person visit.

This was a pretty interesting thread, I read all the responses, and I think you're making the right decision with the steps your taking to not put up with his crap.

I'm amazed everyday that this board has people in all sorts of professions, it seems like you can get information on anything with real results (I'm speaking of Revolutionary's post).

Goodluck with this!

And keep us posted.

you might also contact his business as you said it has his company letter head/whatever on it. im sure his company will look down on such actions as it is a bad representation of the company.

He already said that the donkey owns the company, so that won't accomplish anything (unless its got stockholders, which would be a laughable shame given that people would be trusting their money to a moron with a 3rd grade education and violent, sociopathic tendencies. Hm. Sounds like Worldcom...)

That woman has serious problems. First of all she is ignorant, inconsiderate, and stupid beyond all beliefs, and her husband is no better. People like this pisses me off, she should be appreciative of the fact that someone helped her build a computer at almost no profit at all. Now, maybe the part you bought was faulty to start with (though I doubt it, but that MAY BE the problem which started this whole drama), but you offered what I consider a very friendly offer to go 300 MILES to fix some dumbass's computer. And why couldn't she ask her computer whiz friend to fix it for her pronto and have the bill send to you to see if you guys can work out the monetary problem later. SO instead of fixing the problem using available resources, she is so thickheaded that she wants you to come from 300 MILES away.

I just see too many weaknesses in her stance, she fails as a human.

Anyways, I hope you get this problem resolved safely.

Forward his email to his corporate head office and tell them that he is using company letterhead to communicate threats and that if they do not terminate his service they will be a codefendent when you take him to court.

But then again, I'm a mean SOB

All of these solutions have been mentioned several times in the previous 200+ posts.
