Jeez, I wonder if anyone has ever been shot over refusing to fix a guy's computer. I'd stick with calling the cops...but if you're so inclined, a gun is a VERY expensive way to maintain your safety. However, there's no time for classes/training sessions, so I'd recommend that you just forget about a firearm for now.

Guns are a fake sense of security. The end.

He has already broken the law. Copy the E-mail and press charges.
Yup, harassment at the least...I'm not sure what, if any, other charges can be brought. But since you have all headers and his name and address, I think the best thing to do is call the cops.

You know the world is crazy when you have a better chance of being shot as a computer tech than as a rap star.

Ahh brilliant. That's precisely what i would have done.

Yes, contact the police.

This guy sounds like a f*cking freak.

Above, but also get in touch with the ISPs in question (yours and BellSouth) to confirm the account origin, etc, get more evidence. Self-defense - absolutely. If you don't want/can't carry a firearm, get a high-power taser and Mace. Aim for the neck and face respectively.

They can help with the cops to prove it was sent from him.

The funny part about this is it's probably the latest worm that's causing her reboot problems, not a broken part.

Definately print it out, save it to a disk and call the police and make a report. Maybe even get a restraining order on this guy. He is, as he says, "48 years old" and is not a kid anymore. I would take the threat seriously and take all precationary measures to keep myself safe. Do you own a gun? If not, I think now would be a good time to buy one (if you are of age).

I have to agree with this.

more then likely the guy is just blowing hot air. but if nothing else it will cause a lot of trouble for him.

I would print it out and call the cops and his ISP. What he did was a not to smart. IF anything happens to you, your car etc you have proof that he did it. but again it would still be your best interest to call the cops. that way you dont have to go "see i have proof he did it!" they will just go and bust his ass.

Talk to him and see if you can setup a time where you guys can take a look and see what is wrong and how much it will cost to fix. Tell them the price and if they don't agree, tell them you'll split the cost half and half.

Oh yeah, don't go to his house to fix it alone. Make sure to have a friend or someone you know who isn't weak or easily scared. Carrying a gun for defense isn't a bad idea either. I'd carry an MP3 player or something and make sure you have enough memory on it and set it to record and leave it in a pocket.

Show him that has no claims for the PC issue and if he does anything else, you can take it to the cops with the email. What can he possibly do to make your life a hell?

I say go for the gusto! First, report him to the police. Then, report him to his ISP, I'm sure this type of thing is against their terms of service. Next send a letter/notice to him clearly stating your support contract or otherwise spell out what you will and will not do with regards to tech support for that computer. Send it certified mail with a receipt so that he knows you're not playing around with him. DO NOT threaten back. Also, look up your state laws on this type of thing to see what he's done to violate them. Here in the state of Kansas, if someone communicates something threatening to you, and you feel threatened (which obviously, by posting here, you do), then he can be charged for communicating a threat. If you provided no "terms of service" or spelled out service contract with the computer, you don't have to do squat to support it. Refer him to the manufacturer of the offending hardware or software component and leave it at that. Oh, and take solace in the fact that he's a spineless, old weasel with little or no socially redeeming values.

He not only sent this email directly from his Bellsouth.net account, but he even had his new company name as the From Line... I have all headers and have saved the email...

What can i do? Please advise.... :(

What do you do?

Stand the fvck up and tell him what the real deal is... You are not going to take his $hit... By all means, tell his 48 year old ass to bring the pain... He is most likely bluffing.

What happened to this computer that he wants your head?

Stop this. THE END. Let's get back on topic.

How exactly is it a fake sense of security? What is a true sense of security in your mind then? Hopefully you won't say some Corsair XMS PC4000 RAM....
