I agree. Their last few records have gone downhill.. although they were both pretty good in concert. I saw In Flames, Trivium, Zao, and Devil Driver last year. Zao and DD were just crap. In Flames had a sweet intro with Pinball Map and some .. pyrotechnics and stuff :p Trivium was good too. Matt can move up and down that guitar so fast, it's amazing for his age.

I prefer Opeth and Meshuggah if we're talking swedish metal :p

I wish Zao was as good as they used to be :(

I prefer.... Classic rock over any metal :p
As for Zao... I only heard a few of their songs before I saw them in concert. I don't know any of their old stuff when they ...apparently used to be good.

Yeah, Zao was good back in the day. They've been around what?...10 or so years?

Thanks. :D

The room is staying It's all acoustically correct for mixing, but the gear is getting a complete overhaul/upgrade.

Love your LP. What kinda amps you got?

Also, who made that pedal? I'm not familiar with it.

Skreddy Pedals:
http://www.skreddypedals.com

Amps: Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier running EL34 tubes, Orange 30 watt Class A combo (EL34 of course ;) ), and a Mesa/Boogie Stiletto Ace combo being made right now for me. (also EL34, see a pattern? )

I intend on going back to 6L6's in the Dual Rec once I get the Stiletto in so I can dedicate it for purely metal/hard rock.

I used to love EL34's, but I stick with EL84's now. I'm lovin' the no-master Marshall sound with the 84's - and that makes my ears ring for hours, don't even want to think about a 34 powered rig.

I like EL84s as well. I used to run my dual rec with EL34's and EL84s at the same time. I love the high end chime and snap 84's have but they just don't have the snarl or sting of EL34's to me.

You're a stud man...seriously I'm a heterosexual male and you holding that guitar gave me a chubby...well, maybe it was just the guitar but still...:p

I am nowhere near talented and all I have is 2 ESP guitars, an M-series that looks like a Kirk Hammett guitar (backwards headstock, black) with a H-S-H pickup setup and my new baby (that I thought was sweet until I saw yours) which is an ESP EC-400 with EMG 81 (bridge) and 85 (neck) pickups. It is a beautiful Vintage Sunburst Les Paul copy and I love it dearly, although i've played it probably a total of 4 times since I bought it a couple months ago (busy with summer job and school) but I intend to start up playing again as soon as things calm down again. Thanks for the inspiration to pick it back up...I need to get a good pedal like that :)

Nice axe!

I was deciding between an ESP and a Schecter and went with the Scheter because I wanted a 7 string/baritone and I got EMG707's (basically a 7 string width EMG81 mixed with EMG85 type sound). Those pickups absolutely slay for metal, my friend has almost that exact guitar in pure white and it's quite a player.

Just play a little bit each day, I work some crazy ass hours as a UNIX sys admin but I find time every day to just at least pick it up. Good luck, get some clips up when you get your chops back up!

Thanks again for the encouragement man, I do love it and have had it in the hard case that I got with it on ebay. I got the guitar along with the ESP hard case for $500 and it was absolutely pristine.

I was skeptical about buying such a large item online, especially through ebay, but since the my other guitar was the first thing I ever ordered on ebay, I took the plunge and ended up with a great guitar.

24 XJ frets, the EMG 81 and 85 active pickups and Grover tuners and Earvana compensated nuts really sealed the deal. When I opened the case when I first got it (on a Friday...what a great weekend that was!) there was a wonderful smell of new guitar in the air. There wasn't a single fingerprint or smudge on it, let alone a scratch or the like.

I got a $900 guitar, plus case and shipping to my door for $500 and it was in perfect condition. Probably the best ebay purchase I've ever made.

The only thing I miss about my old guitar (still have it, but haven't touched it since) is the ass-kicking style (love the backwards headstock) and the double cut away which made the higher frets a lot easier to play. That is probably going to be my most difficult adjustment...that and learning how to hold it while sitting, a feat easier with the other style.

What kind of amp do you play through? Use any effects? What is your main 'style'?

Man, I want a guitar like that.. I still have to mod my Hondo II Les Paul to fit me, I play left-handed.. I'm so poor, I can't even pay for strings. I've got a B for a G and no high e. :(
